Once Again

Chapter 20

Rowana's POV

Nang makalabas kami ng bahay ni Sargent,agad na sumakay kami sa sasakyan niya at pinaharurot kung nasaan man si Xiron.

Huminga ako ng malalim.

Bakit kaya nabaril si Xiron? Mukha namang hindi siya pala-away na tao at mukha namang mabait.

Tumingin ako kay Sargent na naka-focus sa daan at mabilis na nagmamaneho. He looks like he's going to a war with his raging-in-anger face. Lukot ang mukha niya at hindi maipinta. Para bang papatay ng tao.

I'm worried to him and to Xiron either.

Huminto ang sasakyan sa isang pamilyar na condominium building. Kunot ang noong lumabas ako ng sasakyan habang pinagmamasdan ang mataas na gusali.

"XF condominium building. The same building where I'm living but..." Tiningnan ko si Sargent na nagtatakang nakatingin sa akin. "This isn't the place where I'm living. It's... Diane—my bestfriend—the only person I know who's living here..." Unti-unti'y nanlaki ang mga mata ko. A lump started to form in my throat as I realized everything slowly. "No... No way! No way in hell!" Sigaw ko.

Nilapitan ako ni Sargent at hinawakan ang mga kamay niya. "What's wrong?" tanong niya.

I looked at him. "Sargent,it was my parents. I think,they were supposed to use Diane to me; to get me back. But unfortunately,Xiron was up there. Maybe,he stopped my fake parents' men to take Diane and because of that,he was shot."

Sargent looked at me. An emotion that I can't name crossed in his blue eyes but it disappeared after he blinked.

Pero mukhang alam ko na kung ano yun. Galit. "I'm so sorry."

"We'll talk about this later." pina-urong niya ako palayo sa pinto ng passenger's seat at may kinuha sa compartment. My eyes widened when I saw a gun in it. He took it out and put it in his pants. He looked at me and told me to be quiet.

Tumango ako.

Makahawak kamay kaming pumasok ng condominium building at sumakay ng elevator hanggang sa marating ang floor kung nasaan ang unit ni Diane. I told him Diane's unit.

Nang makarating kami,inilabas ni Sargent ang baril at ikinasa. I gulped and I can't stop my heart on beating so wild because of nervousness.

Nilingon ako ni Sargent. "You'll face the door and press the doorbell. Hindi nila ako pwedeng makita habang may hawak na baril."

I bit my lower lip.

Mukhang nakita ni Sargent ang kaba at takot sa mga mata ko. Niyakap niya ako at hinagod ang likod ko.

"I'm sorry." Bulong ko.

"Don't blame yourself. You did not wished this and most of all, it's not you who shot my half-brother."

I sniffed. "But I am the reason."

He sighed and looked at me. "Rowan,please,just for this time. Be brave. Think about Xiron and Diane. They need you. Please." Pinahid niya ang luhang tumulo sa mga mata ko.

I sniffed and nodded. "Okay."

Sargent look relieved. "Thanks."

Naglakad ako sa harap ng pinto ng unit ni Diane at pinindot ang doorbell ng dalawang beses. It looks like the person behind the door looked at the screen of the camera above the doorbell for seconds. Pero bago bumukas ang pinto,hinatak ako ni Sargent at pinapunta ako sa likod niya.

A man went out from the door. He looked at the opposite side of our position and when he turned to our position,Sargent pointed the gun at the man's head.
