The big day has finally came. At hindi ko na rin iniisip ang nangyari kagabi. I need to be professional on this one. Mahalaga to para kay Gin and the other people behind this project. But Gin seems like avoiding me.
"Congratulations Mr. Monteverde, for the success launch of your swimwear line, the Aquatic." sabi ng isang babaeng media press habang nakatayo at hawak-hawak ang mikropono.
"Thank you Lorelei.. I'm very thankful for the continous support we've received from you guys at the media press." Gin smiled as he glanced to the audience. "Thank you very much."
"You're very much welcome sir.. Ah sir, we'd like to know how did you convince Ms. Lauren to be a part of your clothing line. Of all, the clothing companys abroad. Why did she chose the MCC? Or maybe Ms. Lauren can answer the question please?"
Agad namang lumingon sa 'kin si Gin. At mabilis din naman akong marahang umabante sa aking kinauupuan para kunin ang mic sa harapan ko. "Um," as I softly tap the mic. "Good Morning everyone.." I said without removing the smile to my face. As flashes were lighting up my face.
"First of all, I'm very thankful that MCC chose me to be the face of their new line. Being a part of their family, is both an honor and a privilege. The reason why I chose to be with them is that," habang ginawaran ko ng tingin si Gin at Myr. "I saw myself in them, I mean the people behind this project. I actually, knew some of them. They're my friends way back in high school. I saw how dedicated they are to their craft. Naalala ko ang paghihirap ko dati nung nagsisimula pa lang ako sa modeling industry. And also, I've always been a part of them. We've always been a family.." sabay ngiti ko at nilapag ang mic sa mesa.
The crowd applaud. "Next question please." sabi ng emcee.
"Nice po from DRZ Publish, I have a question for Ms. Lauren," as I pick up the mic again.
"Yes Nice?"
"Congratulations po.. Ah Ms. Lauren there are speculations that Mr. Monteverde and you had a relationship when you were in high school? Is that true? That you're high school sweethearts before? That this mean, you've reconciled already since you accept this project?"
My eyes widened. "Um.."
As flashes of lights started to hit my face again. "Ms. Lauren please answer the question!" rinig kong sigaw sa bawat sulok ng kwarto.
"Guys, please calm down.." saway ni Gin sa press.
"How about you Mr. Monteverde? What can you say about those speculations?"
"Ah it was nothing serious.." I announced. And it made the crowd calm. "You know how high school works.. Kulitan lang namin 'yun noon. And that's all. So, let's move on. Next question please." as I plastered a smile.
Biglang akong nakonsensya ng makita ko ang mukha ni Gin. He seems disappointed the way I answered the question. Mali ba ang pag-handle ko ng question? Because I think it was the best way to answer that kind of question.
"Hi Ms. Lauren, Lex from Gossip News. Since you were still young nung naging kayo ni Sir Uno,"
Why don't they just ask me about the clothing line? Ba't mas interesado pa sila sa personal na buhay ko?!
"So, this time ba, with this new guy, is it now for real?"
"Um excuse me?" I confusedly ask. New guy?
"This has been all over the internet, nung kadadating n'yo pa ng Pilipinas. You went ahead to a college university to see someone there."
