Finally the day was over and Renjun was free to go home. He unlocks the door to his shared apartment and hangs his satchel up on the coat rack before pulling the camera out of it.

"Damn, you get home later every night" a voice says and Renjun watches his best friend, Jaemin, make his way into the small kitchen area.

"I'm helping out on a pretty serious case, works busy" Renjun explains as he shrugs off his jacket and pulls off his shoes before joining Jaemin in the kitchen.

"OoooO is it a murder?" The younger boy looks a little exited as he fills the kettle with water before switching it on.

Jaemin has been best friends with Renjun since high school. Once they left Renjun went straight into work but Jaemin wanted to study psychology at university which is why he seems so exited about a murder.
Because Jaemin was broke as hell, him and Renjun decided to get an apartment together and split the rent between them, and so far it had worked out well.

"It's an attempted murder, luckily the victim is going to be okay" Renjun explains deciding to help Jaemin out and take two mugs from the small kitchen cabinet.

"Damn" he mumbles and Renjun furrows his brow slightly.

"Why do you sound so disappointed you weirdo" the brunette adds a generous amount of hot coco powder to each mug.

"Oh, I'm not disappointed, I'm happy that the victim is okay, but I have an assignment on murderous minds and I can't seem to find a good enough case to use online" he sighs, pouring the kettle once it had finished boiling.

"Well I could ask Jaehyun for a case file you could use, obviously you won't be able to view any private information but I'm sure my boss won't mind you using one of our past murder cases" Renjun shoots his best friend a smile before picking up his hot chocolate and making his way into the attached living area.

"Really?! Omigod Renjun your the best friend ever!" Jaemin squeals jumping up and down, almost spilling his hot drink.

"I know" the older boy smiles smugly before switching on the tv.

"I'll be doing homework if you need me, please don't need me" Jaemin mutters as he hurried into his bedroom and closed the door. And to think Renjun was doing that brat a favour.

Jeno enters the hospital room, his parents had left but Seulgi sat in the chair beside the bed, holding onto Yeri's hand. She was clearly drifting in and out of sleep.

The quiet click of the door closing seems to wake her a little and she gives Jeno a sleepy smile.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you" he says, his voice calm as he takes the seat beside her.

"It's fine, I wasn't really asleep anyway" she laughs a little as she sits up and rubs her tired eyes.

Jeno was thankful that she had stayed with his sister, but he also felt like she deserved to get some sleep.

"Maybe you should head home, I'll stay the night" he offers but Seulgi just waves him off.

"Don't be stupid, I can't just leave. I'm staying here until she's healthy enough to come home with me, our house would be too quiet without her" she smiles sadly as she reaches over and gently brushes a strand of hair off of Yeri's pale face.

"That's exactly what she said about you, it's also the whole reason she was staying at my house..." Jeno trails off, stopping mid sentence as the flashbacks came back to him.

Selugi places a hand on Jeno's knee, rubbing it comfortingly. "It's not your fault Jeno, it's no ones fault other than the bastard that did this."

He smiles a little and nods, a stray tear rolls down his cheek and she wiped it away with her thumb.
Jeno quickly tries to compose himself, he doesn't like people seeing him cry. He only ever cries in front of people he truly trusts.

"Has she woken up at all today?" He asks and Seulgi only shrugs.

"She drifts in and out of sleep, she can't really from any words yet so she just mumbles a bunch of gibberish before sleeping again" she explains with a small laugh which then caused Jeno to laugh too.

It was weird to laugh at a situation like this, but it was the easiest way to get through it. If they didn't laugh they would cry.

"Jeno sweetheart you look exhausted, what have you been doing?" Her eyes scan his face and he only shrugs.

He couldn't tell her that he was helping out on the case.

"Just...stuff. Hung out with Mark hyung for a while and we played soccer for a few hours, must have worn me out" he lies only to earn a nod of understanding.

"Why don't you go home and get some sleep. Don't worry I'll keep good care of Yeri." She gives him another comforting smile and a small hug before he got up.

"Thank you" he says before exiting the room and heading home.
