Jeno waits patiently outside of the movie theatre for Renjun. He felt bad for dragging him out of the house on his only day off but Jeno needed to get away from his parents for a while. He would have called someone else but Renjun was the closest thing Jeno had to a friend right now.

He did have friends, Mark being the one he seemed to count on the most, but he was currently studying back in Canada meaning Jeno didn't really have anyone else.

The sun had started to set and Jeno pulls his jacks around himself tightly, his hand mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.

"Hey you!" A voice calls causing Jeno to quickly pocket his phone and shoot Renjun a smile.

"Hey, thanks for coming, I'm sorry if I disturbed you" he rushes, turning on his heel and the two head inside, the smell of freshly popped popcorn filling their noses.

Renjun only waves him off slightly "don't be silly you didn't disturb me, I was just surprised I'm now someone you want to hang out with" he laughs a little, his shoulder unintentionally knocking against Jeno's, he timidly takes a step away, putting some space between their bodies.

"What do you mean? Of course your someone I want to hang out with"
They make their way to the counter and buy their tickets. Renjun wanted to pay but Jeno declined his offer since it was his idea to come to the movies in the first place.

"I just thought maybe you'd have a girlfriend or someone like that you'd rather spend time with" this was Renjun's very casual way of trying to find out whether or not Jeno was single. The questions that Jaemin had bombarded him with earlier still played on his mind.

"Nah don't swing that way" Jeno mutters as they take their seats in the dim room.
Renjun practically choked on his drink when hearing that. He said it so casually, no fear that Renjun may judge him or feel awkward around him, he just blurted it out as if it were nothing.

Maybe it was nothing to him.

"Seriously?" He whisper shouts, his eyes wide causing the younger boy to laugh a little.

"You seem so surprised"

"It just shocked me a little is all, it'll pass" Renjun picks up his drink again, sipping it to try and hide the giddy smile that had made it's way onto his lips.

Jeno on the other hand couldn't tear his gaze from the brunette. The way his throat bobbed as he swallowed, Jeno was making this entire thing far less innocent than it actually was and quickly tore his eyes away, focusing on the trailers that were playing on the large screen.

The cinema wasn't crowded, there were around six other people in the theatre and they were mostly seated towards the front. Renjun and Jeno had taken the seats at the back, both claiming it's the best view.

Soon the lights dimmed and the movie starts. Slowly Renjun leans closer to Jeno and moves his lips close to his ear, his warm breath tickling him slightly "just so you know I'm not very good with horror movies".

Jeno's eyes widen and he turns to look at Renjun, their faces were inches apart and the older boy quickly moves back, an innocent and guilty look on his face.

"Why didn't you say?"

"Because I forgot to mention it" he gives the younger boy a timid smile before slouching in his seat, bringing his drink back up to his lips "I'm sure I'll be fine".

"Renjun are you okay?" Jeno asks once the movie had ended.

Renjun was practically curled up in a ball, his hood pulled over his head and his adorable sweater paws covering his eyes. He slowly shakes his head lowering his hands. "I don't know what was worse, the creepy ghost or the kinky sex scene".
Jeno couldn't help but laugh a little. The brunette pouts before standing up from his seat "let's just go"

The younger boy stood and followed Renjun out and throwing his trash into the bin. "Do you want a ride home?" He asks,he sees Renjun jump slightly as he places a hand on his shoulder.

Renjun crosses his arms over his chest, his eyes moving to meet Jeno's. He nods slowly before they both start moving towards the exit.
Quickly Renjun reaches out and grips onto Jeno's arm, shooting the younger boy an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, is this okay? I'm just a little scared" he couldn't keep eye contact for too long as he was constantly checking over his shoulder for anything out of the ordinary.

Jeno couldn't help but admire how adorable Renjun was, he felt like he was seeing a completely different side to him tonight. He was nothing like the serious hard working forensic photographer he was at the police station. Tonight he seemed like a totally normal person with this whole new side of personality that Jeno hadn't seen at work.

"Come on" Jeno laughs softly before they begin walking to his car. He opens the door for Renjun before running around to the drivers side and hopping in.

The car felt like a freezer and he quickly turned the heaters on, watching as Renjun pulled on his sweater sleeves for warmth. Cute.

The car journey was silent, but not uncomfortable, Renjun would speak up to give Jeno directions to his apartment building and they had taken two wrong turns before they finally pulled up outside of it.

"Wow you live pretty close to me" Jeno says once he parks outside of the building, a sad smile instantly making it's way onto his face at the thought of his house. It was crazy how one minute he could forget about everything that happened and then the next it all came back like a kick in the stomach.

Renjun was surprised Jeno didn't recognise the building from the other day when they were hanging up the security cameras, but he was also pretty thankful. He didn't want Jeno worrying, not that Jeno would worry about him anyway.

A silence passes over them for a moment, Renjun's hand on the door ready to open it and step out. He turns to look over at the younger boy who had seemed to space out a little.
"Would you like to come in? I have coffee" he offers Jeno a smile and sighs in relief when it is returned.

"Thanks but I should be getting home, my parents worry a lot these days if I'm out too late" he says, hating the way he sounded like a seventeen year old with a curfew of ten o'clock.

Renjun totally understood. It was only right for a parent to be so protective over their child after what they had been through. He nods and gives another smile before opening the door and stepping out "bye, thanks for the movie"
Renjun cursed himself slightly. He sounded like he was making this into a date. He knew it wasn't, but he had to admit it kind of felt like one. In fact it was one of the best 'dates' he had ever been on, regardless of how scary the movie had been.

"Renjun stay safe" Jeno says, his brain reminding him of the knowledge that the criminal roams this neighbourhood.

The brunette nods "drive safe".

They share another smile before Renjun watches Jeno drive off down the road. He sighs heavily before turning and entering his building, climbing the stairs to his apartment.

As soon as he throws the door open he sees Jaemin sprawled out on the couch, he sits up and gives his best friend an expectant look.

"I'm whipped"...
