Three weeks later
Grayson's pov
—"I don't know why she hasn't woken up yet. I'm beginning to worry." I told my therapist. He nodded his head and sighed. Its been a while since I made time to see him, but Ethan suggested I make an appointment. I hadn't been taking much care of myself.
"This is normal, Grayson. Some people take a few weeks, some take a few months to wake up." He reassured me. I nodded, looking at the time on the wall.
"Her mom should be back tomorrow night. She's upset by the fact Angel still hasn't woken up. Its been four weeks of her being in the Coma." I paused, not wanting to cry.
"Her arm has almost heeled from the accident, and her bruises have faded. But her chest has burn scars, from when her car was on fire and she was burned before she was pulled out. It's a miracle she's even alive." I rubbed my face in distress. This has been the hardest time of my life.
"Things will get better, Grayson. I think you need to try and move on." He looked at me, but I shook my head.
"I can't. Not until I can talk to her, but even then I know I won't be able to move on." I told him, standing up.
"I have to go, I told Ethan I'd meet him at the hospital in twenty minutes." I headed towards the door.
"Grayson, I believe she'll wake up soon. God's speed." He nodded his head at me as I walked out the door.
"Thank you." I spoke, then vanished down the hall.
—
"How's she doing?" Chance walked into the room where Ethan and I were talking. I smiled at him as he looked at her.
"Her bruises are gone, so good, I think." I chuckled. Ethan laughed and kicked me softly.
"It's sad how none of those girls who tried to be her friend have come. It's only been us three these past three weeks. I'm sure if her mom and brother hadn't been in Castro, they would have been here too." Ethan sighed. I nodded, looking at Angel.
"Yeah. It breaks my heart." I agreed, moving myself back to the chair next to her bed. Chance sat in the seat I originally had been in.
"When do you think she'll wake up?" I asked, looking at my two friends as I ran my thumb over her knuckles.
"Soon, I hope. You look miserable." Ethan's voice held concern. I chuckled, nodding my head.
"I am. But, anyways. Prom is next month I was really, really hoping I'd be able to go with Angel. I don't know if thats even possible now." I sighed, kissing her hand softly as I pulled away from holding it.
"Don't lose hope, Grayson. She could wake up at any moment." Her nurse came in the room. She smiled at the three of us as she began to take Angel's vitals.
"When you ask to go to prom, I suggest you bring her those roses again. Her brain waves became larger, but thats a good thing. She's awake and she knows everything thats going on around her. She knew you brought her favorite flowers." She smiled at me as she wrote on the chart.
"You can tell all of that from her vitals?" Chance asked, the nurse laughed and shook her head, placing the chart under her arm.
