"Promise me that this is forever." I whispered gently as I looked into Luke's chocolate brown eyes. Without any hesitation, he whispered back "I promise Jess, I love you." as he slowly descended his head and caressed his pink plump lips with mine.
I shivered with delight. This kiss was entirely different from what we normally share, this kiss was intimate, and it held a promise, a promise to always love each other.
As the kiss deepened, our desires were awakened and one by one our clothes disappeared from our bodies, scattered on Luke's bedroom floor as we continued to assault our lips together and eventually make love to each other.
My eyes flew wide open as I bolt upwards sitting on my bed. I feel suffocating, as if someone is choking me, my throat is burning as if I haven't had a drop of water for months. My heart is beating as if I just ran a marathon and my breathing is uneven whereas my entire body is drenched with sweat making me uncomfortable because my pajamas are clinging onto me like second skin. "It was just a memory." I softly say to myself as I recover from that horrible memory gently swaying from side to side. "It's just a fucking dream.", I whisper more harshly reminding myself that it just indeed just a dream.
I get up from my bed and walk towards the window, opening it and staring at the sky. I glance at the clock in my room and it read four am. With a long frustrated sigh, I welcome the cold air as it bit into my body, numbing the pain from my memory away making me relaxed.
I hate this, as I think to myself, I hate that my past is coming to me in dreams, haunting me, mocking me of my foolish and childish mistake.
I was fifteen at the time, naive, innocent and young when I first met Luke. My best friend Violet was home, sick with the flu, so I have decided to go to the one place where I can feel like myself, complete, surrounded by books of different genres, no matter it was text books, my love for all books and knowledge surpassed that. We met at the school library where I was looking for a maths text book and both our hands reached for it at the same time and ended up touching. As cliche as it sounds, one look at him, just one look, and that was all it took for me to fall in love with him. It was love at first sight for me, he looked just like a disney prince with his brown hair and brown eyes. He took the book from the shelf and handed it out to me, taking the opportunity to introduce himself to me. From there onwards, we got to know more about each other, then become friends and afterwards lovers. We were both sixteen when we confessed our love to each other, where we both promised that our love will be forever and afterwards we sealed it and became one with our love making, losing ourselves to each other.
It's a shame that promises are tend to be broken and that the people closest and dearest to you become distant strangers in the blink of an eye. I sadly thought to myself as I open my eyes and stare at the now orange pink sky and turn as I make my way to the showers to cleanse myself of the horrid nightmare that I call life.
