I woke up to feel something rubbing the side of my head. I cracked my eyes open and saw Rena staring directly at me. The face she was giving showed that the sight she was looking at could be a sight she could wake up to every day. My nerves were still a little frazzled, but I could at least move them without feeling like I was going to faint. Her smile brightened when she saw me stir.
"Good morning Cassius." She said sweetly. I dug my fingers through her fur on her neck, rubbing softly and gently. I smiled, then leaned my head in and gave her a kiss. We stayed there for a minute, just letting our lips connect. No fancy work, just a blissful smile on both our mouths. Rena let her tails stroke over my body again. We pulled apart, then She smiled back at me.
"Sleep well?"
"Best nights rest I've had in my life." I said. Rena chuckled quietly, then pushed herself up onto her forelegs. As she pushed herself up, I noticed a window on the other side of the room with no blind to cover it. All it had were two sticks forming a cross. The thought that we might have been eavesdropped on made me a little concerned, but I was being ludicrous. I sat up, seeing Rena stretching. I found my shirt not too far and put that on. After regaining all my clothes, I couldn't help but notice how well refreshed I was. If it was the bed and its gel, it really seemed to be effective. As I turned around, I caught Rena looking at me. When she saw that I noticed, she didn't make any attempt to turn her head away. She just smiled, then walked up to me, perked up on her hind legs, and kissed my cheek. She knew one of my weaknesses, that was obvious, and it was affection.
"I really had fun last night." Rena said. "Thank you." I couldn't help but blush. It was words like these that I thought I would never hear in my life. I brushed the feeling off and put my hand under her chin and started scratching. She moaned a little bit.
"Thank you." I said. "For making me feel loved." I know, being embarrassed, you think I could have said something else, but hey, you try going through what I have and trying to say something else that doesn't come to your mind immediately. Enough of the mushy stuff, I'm getting strained enough just writing the last chapter. Rena and I went out into the main room and got some fruits and began to eat. I shouldn't have been surprised, but Rena actually told me that she had a shower that she used every day. A little sheepishly, I asked if I could use it. After some laughter and embarrassment, I was able to rinse off. The longer I stayed here, the more I saw that this place was just like my world. Feeling clean and refreshed, I walked back out, still in my same clothes. It felt wrong wearing the same clothes, but I didn't really have much else. Rena was grabbing a few baskets with her tails. Rena caught me staring and started to fill me in.
"I'm getting some groceries for when my sister comes into town." Rena said. "She's not accustomed to the temperature, so I'm going to get some foods that she'll like." I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Not accustomed to the temperature?" I questioned. "But she's a Ninetales, how?" I realized my question could have been seen as insulting. Thankfully, she didn't take it that way.
"She's from the mountains in the north." Rena said. "She'll be here any minute, so that's why I'm doing this now." She hoisted another basket onto her tail.
"You wanna come along?" I nodded, then walked up and grabbed a basket on the floor.
"This is a lot of baskets." I said. "What do you plan on getting?"
"Some groceries, items, just some items in the marketplace." Both of us walked out of the house and started our way towards the marketplace. The place seemed to be more crowded than normal according to Rena. A lot of Pokémon were staring at me. Some even fell silent. Despite Rena telling me about the legend about us, it didn't help with all the staring eyes. We had already visited a few spots already and each time, the shopkeeper was looking at me strangely. I was getting more and more uncomfortable by the minute. It felt like everyone was staring at me, even the kids. When I brought my concern to Rena, she looked around a little bit, then explained to me that just because a Pokémon may be small doesn't mean they're kids. It surprised me a little bit when I was told when a child stage Pokémon could literally stay that way for their entire life and not evolve. This only made the stares more uncomfortable. Eventually, Rena saw that it was starting to bother me a little bit. She told me I could go back to her house if I wanted to. I might have protested that doing something like that would have seemed childish, but I couldn't handle all the staring and gawking. I even felt like there was a crowd following me from somewhere behind.
