Rose

I grabbed my shorts and put them back on. As I walked back, I was careful not to make the door creak. As I stepped back out into the hallway, I looked straight ahead of me and saw the secondary hallway. I saw the clear door leading to Rose's room. As the door closed softly behind me, I thought about it for a second. One way or another, I would have to run into all of them, that is, if I could stay awake long enough. Just as I thought of this, I felt my mind drifting a little. I shook my head, then looked forward with determination. I may not know what the consequence for losing would be, but I was determined to make it as far as I could.

"Two down... seven to go." I started forward, going down the hallway and passing another door up a staircase on my left. As I slid the door open, I heard the sound of crickets. Strange. I knew that this place had a removable roof, but I didn't know it had crickets. The aroma was enticing, smelling the different kinds of flowers. I noticed that the roof was open, which explained the noise and a breeze hitting my face as I took my first step. The door slid shut, then as I got to the fork between the large tree and a field of flowers, I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was a small green vine. I walked over towards it and followed the trail with my eyes. It was creeping along the dirt path that I guess Rose had made. The moonlight was shining at a full moon. I even looked up to see it. The moon always seemed to be the calmer part of the day. I found myself staring at the moon for a period of time before I heard a voice.

"Cassius? Is that you?" I snapped out of my trance and looked around.

"Rose?"

"Just follow my vine." I heard her say. "Or if you want... I could...guide you." I looked at the vine and saw that it was heading towards the large tree. I thought about going on my own, but what if I lost sight? I nodded to myself.

"Yeah, that could-" Before I could even finish the sentence, I felt the vine quickly wrap around my arm and pull me forward. I struggled for a second to get my footing, but then I started to walk. I felt Rose's vine guide me along the path until it came to the tree. From a distance, I didn't see an entrance of any way. When I got closer, I realized that there was no entrance, at least, not one with a door. I had to climb my way up, using the branches to pull me up. I stopped for a second, but Rose's vine kept going. It tugged on me a little, then when she noticed that I wasn't moving, I heard her voice.

"Is something wrong?"

"I'm just trying to figure out how to get up." I said. "You know, without falling." As I studied the branches for a second, I was working a path in my mind. Then I felt something wrap around my waist. When I looked down, I saw a secondary vine.

"Let me help you." I heard Rose say. Her voice was closer, so I wasn't far from her. I felt the vine around my arm let go and grab on to my chest. Her vine stopped for a second when going around my chest. I felt like I had an idea and smirked.

"Something wrong?" I asked. The response was a little delayed.

"Are... are you wearing your shirt?" Rose asked. I smirked again but made sure to stay quiet.

"No, Erika took it off of me." I explained. I felt her vine move across my chest softly. Then I felt it tighten around both spots.

"Ready?" I looked up and finalized my path.

"Yeah, I'm ready." I felt her vines starting to retract. I grabbed onto the first branch I could reach and started pulling myself up. This wasn't too different from climbing certain area's back in Poe Town. As I went from one branch to another, I misjudged some of the distance between some, but I made most of them. There was one time when I attempted to leap up to a branch that was about two feet above me. When I ran up the trunk of the tree to try and reach it, I fell short and started falling backwards. However, Rose's vines held onto me tight and made sure I didn't fall. I sat there suspended in the air for a second, still trying to get my nerves back.
