After I had gotten myself awake enough, I looked out the window and saw that it was dark. I turned my head to a clock and it showed about nine-thirty. It was strange that time seemed to move the exact same way here as it did in my world. It was just one of plenty of things that astonished me to see that we had in common. My eyes turned back towards Erika's room, the door still partially open. I felt a chill go down my spine. I got an unnerving feeling about this game.
I walked into the hallway and towards Erika's door. When I reached the door, I hesitated for a second to push the door. I don't know what made me stop, but I felt queasy inside. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open. The room was decorated with some symbols of the sun. I guess this was kind of normal for an Espeon, since they needed to be in daylight to evolve. The room seemed to have a faint glimmer of light, despite all the lights being turned off. There was a small staircase leading to a bed at the top. A few papers were sitting on desks, probably research, and a few other things. I saw Erika at the top of the stairs. She smiled and called me over.
"Come on up here Cassius." She said. She walked out of sight temporarily, then I saw her jump on top of her bed. I was a little slow to start, but I walked up the stairs. It was only a few steps to the top. When I stepped up to the top, Erika was staring at me. She moved to the side and motioned for me.
"Go ahead and sit." I sat down and gave a sigh before looking at her.
"Before we begin," I started, "can I ask you a question?" Erika nodded her head.
"Sure."
"Why are we doing a game so late at night?" I asked. Erika chuckled a little bit.
"Because it's the right time to do it." Erika said. I shifted a little uncomfortably, then calmed down a little.
"Ok, the answer's a little... weird."
"It'll make more sense in a second." Erika explained. She climbed onto my lap and put her two front paws on my shoulders. I could see her tail wagging a little bit. She was face to face with me again, smiling.
"O-okay."
"You know Cassius, this game is going to be an absolute heaven for the family, you know that, right?" I chuckled a little nervously. So, this was what I thought it was. I couldn't do anything about it now.
"T-to be honest," I said, "I'm more nervous." She started rubbing her head under my chin.
"There's nothing to be nervous about sweetie." Erika said. "After all, the entire family seems to really like you." I chuckled a little nervously.
"What makes you say that?"
"Well, for one, you've helped save Ruby from Bradley." Erika said. "That on its own has gotten a lot of respect from us. She is our youngest sister after all."
"She seems to have recovered quickly." I said.
"Oh, she just couldn't wait to have her turn in this game." Erika said.
"What is this game?" I asked. Erika chuckled and put her forehead to mine.
"I'm surprised you haven't figured it out." Erika admitted. I stuttered a little bit.
"I-I-I've gotten an idea... but... I don't... feel... like I have all the info to..." I started feeling like an idiot. I should have figured it out, but a part of my mind didn't want to. I heard Erika laugh softly.
"Tell me Cassius, do you feel something when you look at us?" Erika asked. "When we get up close to you?" I could feel the blood rushing to my face. I felt that inferno come back inside of me.
