Chapter 43: Change of Events

I'm going to be honest here and say that I hadn't fallen asleep so quickly before naturally. The only other times it has happened was... well... I think all of you can guess how. It was very pleasant to just fall asleep and not have a nightmare. I felt like I didn't have to worry about a thing. Though, I still had to wake up eventually. I was just hoping that it could've been longer. When I started to come to, I thought that I was still dreaming a little bit, but as I started to stretch my legs and tried to stretch my arms out, I could feel something restraining my arms from moving outwards. I opened my eyes a little and saw that Lute was still on top of me. It took me a while to get any feeling in my body, but then I started to feel my body get goosebumps as I started to feel her fur.

I looked over and saw Sky asleep, curled up in a ball where I could faintly see Polaris' ears sticking out. I smiled, looking at them, then looked at Lute, turning my head to the right to look at her. She was asleep as well, sleeping soundly and peacefully. The feeling of having her on top of me like a blanket reminded me of when she did this back in Po Town. I could feel Lute breathing on me softly, and I couldn't help myself from running my fingers through her fur softly. She didn't give much of a reaction, but she did shift enough to bring her head closer. I froze for a second, feeling my heart beat faster as my attention focused on her mouth. The longer I stared at her lips, the harder it was for me to resist. Finally, I gave in and started to lean in until I put a kiss on her lips. Shutting my eyes to enjoy the moment, I wrapped my arms around her back and held onto her in a gentle hug. I heard Lute hum softly, and a few seconds later, I could feel her getting a hold on me. I started to open my eyes, then I saw Lute open her eyes as well. I pulled back enough so that we could breathe from our mouths. She smiled at me, then I felt one of her claws brush over the side of my head.

"Hey Cassius. Did you sleep well?" I couldn't help but smile, feeling the long fur on her back.

"Yeah. What about you?" Lute gave a soft smile before leaning forward enough to lick my lips.

"A lot better now that I have you." I turned a little red, but I still held that smile on my face. Lute and I had kept our voices down, but I think it was her still waking up while I was keeping my voice down so I didn't wake up Sky or Polaris. Though, before I could respond to Lute with anything, I felt that familiar beating against my chest. Lute seemed to have noticed as well, chuckling quietly as she pulled her head to be above mine. When I turned my head and saw her red eyes staring down at me with a small grin on her face, I couldn't help but feel my heartbeat getting even faster than before, and before I knew it, I could feel Lute's heart matching mine.

"So, have you had enough time to ask me Cassius? Are you going to... mark me as your mate your way?" Whatever part of my body that was still trying to wake up was now completely alert. I was looking at her with my eyes wide open. My lips sealed like someone was holding them shut, and I couldn't say a single word. My entire body was tensed up, but the more I looked at her, the more I badly wanted to say yes. Despite what happened yesterday, she came out looking for me, and she even gave me the opportunity to look for the others while I couldn't really move too well. She showed that she really cared more than once, and the way she was just so captivating, soft, warm, but stern. She really knew how to help me even more than I would at times.

I really wanted to give something back to her besides the pendant. Something for... all those years. Though, I still couldn't get myself to say anything to her. I looked away from her, trying to figure out how to give her an idea, then I remember what I had done with Fang. I was able to look over Lute enough to see my arms. I slid them down her back, feeling her fur touch my skin. I looked back at Lute, still feeling like something was holding my tongue back, so I decided to feel her fur for a little longer, then I slid my hands further down her back while bringing my head up. This got me closer to her face while letting me reach further down her back. When I got close to her face, I was able to reach far enough to where I opened both of my hands and clasped them down on her butt. Lute let out a loud gasp as I held onto her, then as she looked down at me, her surprised and now partially red face turned to a slightly bigger grin as she lowered her head enough for her nose to touch mine.
