Mitch stood there still as a statue. "Scott! Scott, are you okay?!" He stood and didn't hear anything. "Scott, you better speak to me!" Scott ran back to the bedroom where Mitch was still standing. He walked over to Mitch, seeing how terrified he was, and hugged him tight. "What was the noise..", asked Mitch with his head tucked in Scott's chest. "I'm not sure.", said Scott as he gently rubbed Mitch's back. "Things happen like this all the time in houses. Things fall..it's okay. Don't worry.", he said assuringly.
They stood there holding each other for a couple more minutes. "I think we're fine now..", Scott said calmly to Mitch. They slowly let go of each other. "Alright, um..." , said Mitch as he walked out of the room. He stopped in the middle of the doorway and looked back at Scott. "Are you okay?", Scott asked. Mitch slowly nodded his head. "Yeah...just a little creeped out." Scott walked over to where Mitch was standing. He slowly ran his fingers through Mitch's hair and rested his hand on his shoulder. "Look, we're both stressed out and tired from finally getting settled in. How about we just go on to bed, and just pretend this never happened?" "Okay..", Mitch said quietly as he nodded.
They both got their showers done and got dressed for bed.
Mitch laid down on the right side of the bed with a big sigh of relief, happy to be off his feet. Scott sat down next to him and laid down, leaving the lamp on beside them on the night stand. It gave a nice calming glow to the room.
Mitch rolled onto his side to face Scott, resting his hand on his chest. He could feel his heart and his movements of breathing. Scott slightly smiled at the thought of how they were laying. He loved it when they were together like this. It was like they didn't have to talk, and yet they were saying so much. His thoughts were interrupted when Mitch started to talk.
"Scott?" "Yes, Mitch?" , said Scott as he slowly started to run his fingers through Mitch's hair. "What do you, um...", his voice got quieter, "what do you think that was?" Scott let out a sigh. "Mitch, I honestly don't know, but I really don't want to talk about it." Mitch and Scott then went quiet for a moment. Lost in their own thoughts of what had happened that day. Mitch finally spoke up, looking up at Scott. "You know what? You're right. We don't need to talk about it right now. Maybe we just need a...distraction." Scott looked at him and they both smiled. "Oh?" , said Scott, "And what exactly did you have in mind?" "This..", whispered Mitch as he slowly started to kiss Scott's neck. Mitch loved his lips against Scott's skin. It was so soft.
He kissed up to Scott's jaw line, then on his lips. Scott closed his eyes and continued to kiss Mitch back in rhythm. "You're so beautiful..", mumbled Mitch lowly against Scott's lips as he continued to kiss him.
Mitch adjusted himself to where he was hovering over Scott, as Scott laid his hands on Mitch's sides as they continued to kiss. Mitch slowly lowered himself to where he was resting on top of Scott, tangling his hands up in Scott's hair. It was a beautiful moment for them where nothing else in the world mattered to them.
It was just them.
Or was it.
All of a sudden they hear a knocking sound from somewhere in the apartment. Mitch pulled away from Scott. "Did you hear that?", Mitch asked. He got back on his side of the bed. "Yeah, I did..", said Scott as he sat up in the bed. He started to get up. "Let me see what's going on.." But before he could stand up, Mitch quickly grabbed hold of Scott's arm, resisting him from getting up. "No!", said Mitch, "Don't leave me again!" Scott looked back at Mitch. "Just stay here, you'll be fine. I'm just going to check and I'll be right back." He kissed Mitch on the forehead, causing Mitch to finally give in and let him go. Mitch watched Scott walk out of the doorway, until he could no longer see him.
Mitch just sat there, nervous of hearing a scream from Scott, but telling himself at the same time that everything is going to be okay.
Another noise came from where Scott was. "Scott! Scott, what was that?!", Mitch yelled, terrified.
He heard Scott yelling at him from the living room. "I think there was a knock on the window, but I'm not sure."
"But that makes so sense!", yelled Mitch, "we're on the fifth floor!" Scott walked back to the bedroom and sat by Mitch again. He looked at his eyes. "It was probably just some kids messing around and throwing rocks or something.", he said hopefully. He was actually pretty worried and scared, but the last thing he wanted was Mitch to know that. He could tell by his face that he was still scared and worried. He couldn't help but think to himself..
Was there really a knock on the window?..on the fifth floor?..was it a couple of kids being jerks?......
Mitch hung on to Scott's arm tight. Scott felt as if the blood circulation in his arm was slowly stopping.
"Scott, I'm terrified. What the hell is going on?", he asked, his voice shaking. Scott laid down, slowly pulling down Mitch to lay beside him (he didn't have a choice, Mitch was clutched to his arm.)
Scott calmly tried to make Mitch less scared. "Mitch, I'm sure it's nothing weird...houses creak, they make noises. I think you're just more paranoid because we are new here. Just relax." Scott tried to keep his voice from sounding nervous. "Just close your eyes..and go to sleep, tomorrow will be a new day." He kissed Mitch's forehead.
*20 Minutes later*
Right as Scott started to close his eyes, he was awoken by the sound of Mitch talking in his sleep.
"I will get you..", he heard Mitch whisper right before Scott dozed off into sleep.
*The next morning, 8:00 am*
Scott woke up to the sun from their bedroom window shining bright on his face. He looked to his side to tell Mitch good morning, but he wasn't there. He quickly shot up, worried something happened, drastically looking around the room. "MITCH?"
"I'm in here.", said Mitch from the living room.
Scott sighed of relief and got up from the bed, walking towards Mitch. "Good morning handsome.", said Scott as he walked over to Mitch who was sitting on the couch. He stood from behind, bending over and kissing Mitch on the cheek. He could see the look on Mitch's face. He looked so flushed and tired. "Would you like some breakfast?", asked Scott as he walked into the kitchen. "Sure.", mumbled Mitch in the most tired way possible. Scott hummed to himself as he got some pans down from the shelf to make some eggs. His back to Mitch, he turned on the stove, putting the pan on it while spraying it with cooking spray. He turned and faced Mitch, leaning his back against the counter by the stove.
He could see that he was so tired..he wasn't even making any conversation or is being as talkative as he usually is. He tried to make conversation.
"So uh....you were saying some funny stuff last night", said Scott as he laughed a little. Mitch looked at him.
"What do you mean?" Scott laughed a little louder. "You were talking in your sleep, man!" Mitch looked at him, confused. "No, I wasn't." Scott stopped laughing. "What are you talking about? Of course you did...you said something like, uh...", he squeezed his eyes tight trying to remember."You said 'I will get you', or something like that." Mitch buried his face into his hands. Scott could hear Mitch mumbling to himself, "oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.."
Scott quickly went into the living room and sat by Mitch on the couch. He pulled Mitch's hands away from his face, demanding him to talk to him.
"Mitch, what's the matter now?" Mitch raised his head up and looked at Mitch dead in the eyes.
"Scott, I'm tired, because I didn't even go to sleep last night." Scott looked at him, trying not to believe him.
"I was never asleep. After a few minutes right after us talking, I was too afraid to go to sleep so I just got up and sat on the couch the whole night."
Scott just looked at him. Not being able to move or to say a word.
"Scott. That voice you heard...wasn't me."
