Scott's POV
I wasn't sure what to say. I stood up and walked over to him in the kitchen and stood in front of him. He still held the board in his hands. His face full of anger and disappointment.
"Mitch..."
"Answer me." The seriousness in his voice sent chills down my spine. I slowly moved my hand up to cup his cheek. He took a step back before I could touch him. "I said. What the hell is this. And why is it here."
I sighed. "Mitch if you would just let me explain--" He loudly tossed the board onto the kitchen counter beside us, causing me to jump. "You know how I feel about all of this!! Why would you even think about having this in the house?!!" He threw his hands up in the air, causing me to take a step back. "I can't believe you, Scott!!" I quickly put my hands on his shoulders, my face in front of his. I raised my voice just enough to get my point across. "I didn't bring it in here!" His eyebrows furrowed. I released my grip on his shoulders.
"Then who-"
"Kevin did." I sighed again and walked back into the living room, taking my seat back on the couch as I ran a hand through my hair. He came and sat next to me.
"I'm sorry."
I looked at him. "Why are you sorry?"
"I thought you bought it.."
"It's okay. I'm sorry I hid it from you..I should have just told you."
He thought for a second. "Why did Kevin bring it anyway?"
I laid back on the couch. "He thought we were still wanting to communicate with it..wanted to help us out." Mitch went quiet again. I couldn't read his face; But he spoke with a harsh tone again, looking at me. "Just promise me we're never going to use it." My eyes wandered rapidly around the room, looking for an answer. 'Promise' is a big word.
"But, I mean...what if it did help if we used it..."
"Scott, I could not be more serious right now." He stood up, looking down at me.
"Promise me. Please Scott."
"Okay, okay. I promise."
He smiled and held his pinky in front of me. I chuckled. "Seriously? The pinky swear?" He laughed a little. At least the mood was lightening up again. "Yes! Do it!" I laughed under my breath. "Okay, fine." I hooked my pinky with his. "I pinky swear..I will not use the Ouija Board."
"Ever?"
"Ever."
He smiled. And leaned down to quickly kiss my forehead. "Good. Now call Kevin, and have him come and get. I want it out of here."
He started walking out into our bedroom and closed the door behind him. I stayed sitting on the couch and got my phone out, calling Kevin. I got his voicemail."Hey you've reached "K.O." I'm busy right now but leave a message!"
You could basically hear his smile through his voice. I hung up after it beeped, not leaving a message. I put my phone back in my pocket, walking into the kitchen. The board still laid on the counter where Mitch had tossed it. I placed it back in the box again the way Kevin had given it to me. I walked over to the storage closet and opened the door, placing it on the highest shelf where Mitch wouldn't be able to see it or reach it. I turned off the light and closed the door, walking to the bedroom.
He didn't know I had my other hand with my fingers crossed behind my back.
-------
Me and Mitch were driving to meet up with everyone for our rehearsal.
"So Scott."
I hummed in acknowledgment as him, keeping my eyes on the road.
"When did Kevin say he was going to get his board back?"
I could basically feel his eyes on me. I finally looked at him. "Oh, uh...he said he'll have to get it later today." God I'm such a terrible liar.
"Okay, sounds good."
Good. He bought it.We parked and walked through the doors, finding everyone else in the circle as usual in their chairs. Mitch took a seat and I quickly walked over to Kevin, leaning down and whispering in his ear. "As soon as rehearsal is over, get your board out of our house." He nodded at me and I took my seat next to Mitch.
After about two hours passed, we finally started to finish up on the song we were working on. We were all singing our last notes.
"So if by the time the bar closes, and you feel like falling down, I'll carry you home tonight."
Kevin applauded for all of us. "Man, that was dope."
"Yeah." I agreed. "Guys I'm starving." Avi stood up. "Guess that means our work is done here, then." He laughed. "Do we wanna get something to eat?" Kevin stood as well. "I'm down. Where we going?"
Kirstie picked up her purse and flung it over her shoulder. "I really want Chipotle."
"Oh mah gaaaaawd I love Chipotle, Chipotle is mah liiiife." Me and Mitch both imitated at the same time, causing everyone to crack up laughing. "Chipotle it is." Said Kevin as he led us out the door. After lunch, we all came to our apartment. Me, Mitch and Kirstie sat on the couch while Avi and Kevin sat comfortable on the floor in front of us. Mitch made a loud sigh as he laid back on the couch.
"Oh my God...guys I want Starbucks." I looked at him and everyone laughed. "Mitch, are you kidding me? We just came back from lunch!" He sat up. "Momma doesn't joke around when it comes to caffeine." He stood up from the couch, waking over to the front door, picking up his Celine back and throwing it over his shoulder. Kirstie laughed. "Mitchell you have got to be kidding me!" "No! I'm not! Do you guys want anything or is this just a run for myself." We all smirked and exchanged glances. "I think we're good Mitch." I smiled. He smiled back. "Okay good. Be back soon lovelies." And just like that, he was out the door. I faced our friends again once the door shut. I knew I needed to make this quick. "Okay, Kevin?" He looked up at me. "Yeah?"
"Get the Ouija board out...it's in that cabinet on the top shelf."-----------
