chapter six - "movie nights"

ETHAN TURNED THE IGNITION on of his car starting it up.

"hell yeah, how could i say no to ice cream." i say as if it were obvious.

he laughs biting his lip slightly out of habit turning his gaze on me, lingering there.

i turned to face him feeling his stare on me. "what?"

"nothing." he says with a smile playing on his lips before driving off.

"tell me." i persisted leaning my head black onto the seat.

"i missed this." he says with a warm smile glancing at me.

i look away, a grin remaining on my lips at his words. "me too."

"what do you want?" ethan asks me, standing in line.

i look through the variety of flavours from the glass in adoration. there were many flavours to pick from, but decided to go with my favourite.

"hm, cookie dough." i say licking my lips at the sight of it.

"what about you?" i add on, asking him.

"i think i'll get..." he trails off looking through the flavours.

"i'll get the oreo chocolate chip, im feeling exotic." he says looking at me.

i laugh looking at him weird. not surprised i walk up to the cashier.

"hi, what can i get you two today?" he says with a forced smile.

"a small oreo chocolate chip, and another small cookie dough, both in cups please." i finish off.

"that'll be $8.25." the cashier says getting out ice cream and scooping it into cups.

ethan passes by me leaning onto me handing the cashier a bill. i was about to interject until he spoke up.

"let me treat you this time." ethan smiles standing in front of me.

i sigh with a nod grabbing my ice cream.

we sat at a table in the shop talking, about anything and everything. it was rare nowadays for us to hang out alone like we usually did.

we just had fun laughing, enjoying each other's company and forgetting about the responsibilities outside of here.

"that's definitely not how it goes." i say with a giggle.

"please my impression was literally spot o-" he says before he's cut off by his phone going off.

multiple texts showed up on screen, piling in one after another.

his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, picking up his phone to read his texts.

in a matter of seconds he frantically gets up. "fuck, hailey was waiting for me at the school parking lot."
