chapter seventeen - "love lies"

LOVE.

it's a weird thing.

everyone craves some sort of affection. hard for some to find, while others take it for granted.

being put in this position feels like a heavy weight on your chest.

it's like you can feel your heart shatter in a million pieces.

when you've experienced this before everything is all too familiar when it's put in front of you again.

i felt hurt for him, seeing her with someone else made me feel so enraged.

all my sadness for him vanished when i realized what had just occurred.

my heavy footsteps stalk out of the room, i had to let it out before i did something stupid.

i could her her hurrying footsteps follow after mine pulling me back to face her.

"serina i-"

"why? huh? why would you do this to him? i thought you loved him?" i asked in disbelief.

"i..i don't know." she says with a sigh, with slumped shoulders.

"that's your answer? you don't know?" i scoff, laughing. i turn to walk away but am held back by her holding onto me.

"serina, please. you can't tell him." she looks at me desperately, holding onto my arm.

"are you kidding me? no. im telling him." i yell, grasping my arm back harshly.

"i want to tell him." she says quickly.

"what?" i ask.

"i want him to hear it from me, i wanna be the one to tell him." she says softly.

i sigh looking her up and down still slightly angered. "if you don't, i will."

"serina, you're my best friend, you know i'd keep a secret for you." she responds.

"are you asking me to hide this from ethan? my best friend?" i question not believing what she was asking me to do.

"please? you owe me for the time i got you out of that date from the creepy guy at our school." she says with a shrug slightly begging.

"that doesn't even compare to this situation and you know it ." i say annoyed.

i never thought i'd be put in this position. to tell my best friend, the guy im in love with that his girlfriend; my other best friend is cheating on him.

she rolls her eyes, clenching her jaw until a smirk starts to form on her face.

"serina." she pauses.

"i don't know if you want our beloved ethan to know that you're in love with him now, do you?" she eyes me suspiciously, walking towards me leaning against the narrow hallway of the front of the room.
