chapter eighteen - "in the dark"

THE PAST FEW DAYS ive avoided any and all confrontation with my friends.

i was disappointed in myself for not trying to muster up the courage to tell ethan everything.

because clearly if he had known i would've heard from the others.

i was more so angered with hailey. how could she do that and keep that from him.

during school i was in and out avoiding faces before i could be approached.

i still answered texts but not regarding my very little appearances.

that day after school i sat in bed once again stressed.

the rain poured harshly against the window while i sat there in the quiet contemplating on what to say and how to say it to ethan.

"serina you have guests! they're coming up." i heard my mom call out.

confused i looked around my surroundings. i didn't invite anyone over?

frantically i stood up to close the door but whoever was on the other side beat me to up.

"okay, that's it, what's up with you." grayson says, emma walking in behind him.

"um nothing." i shrug shifting my eyes.

"aha! you're lying, you crinkled your nose a little and blinked more than you should." emma says pointing at me.

i groaned looking at her weird. i hated that i didn't even notice that.

"pros of knowing you since middle school." emma smirks walking in front of grayson.

"now tell us what's going on." grayson speaks up.

sighing i walked passed them to close the door. i then sat on the bed against the headboard.

i patted the space in front of me motioning for them to sit.

they set their things onto the ground beside my bed before sitting down.

"now tell us what's going on!" emma yells out of anticipation.

i ran a hand through my hair letting out a breath. "the night of the party two weeks ago, i went looking for a bathroom." i started.

"this was a little while before you guys started look for hailey and i, probably a half hour before." i added on to stall what i was about to tell them.

"so anyway, i went looking for a bathroom and i explored the rooms while i was up there, and when i opened one of the doors i found hailey."

"she's cheating on ethan and has been for the past month now." i look down waiting for their responses.

"oh hell no. im gonna kill that bitch." emma says immediately.

"calm down there john cena." grayson says pulling emma back down onto the bed.

"wait wait, so you've known this whole time and didn't think about saying anything?" grayson looks up at me, his usual happy self not visible due to how mad he looked.
