chapter twenty one - "now or never"

I WALKED DOWN the steps of the school in a hurry to get out of there.

i heard quick footsteps follow behind me. turning around i saw ethan speed walking to me.

eyeing him i walked faster in order to get to my car.

"serina!" he called out.

i got nearer to it unlocking it from a closer distance.

"serina! wait up!" he called out again getting closer.

i opened my car door only for it to be closed my ethan one second later.

"i told you to wait." ethan says out of breath.

i remained silent unable to look him in the eyes. "remove your hand from the door, i wanna leave."

"talk to me please." he whispers out, almost desperate, letting out a low breath.

"i just-" i pause with a sigh looking down.

"i need space." i manage to whisper back loud enough for him to hear.

i tear his hand away from my car opening the door. getting in i lock it.

ethan put his hands on top of his head in frustration letting them go to his sides.

he steps back from the car, his jaw clenched. he stares at me through the car window with a shake of his head.

i backed out driving away from school, watching him from the distance.

why did i just get a call that
you've missed school again?

my mom texted. i groaned sending her quick reply with a lame excuse she'd believe.

my parents weren't really strict unless it was something really bad that ive done.

they're fairly understandable and let me go out whenever as long as i let them know everything.

but obviously i wasn't going to be allowed to go out for a day or two because of this.

once i left school that morning all i did was lay in bed and eat whatever leftover food i could find in the fridge.

i felt so embarrassed and hurt when hailey blurted it out like that.

ethan knows. he freaking knows how i feel about him.

i just couldn't talk to him, not yet anyway. i needed time.

a few days later

i was glad it was finally the weekend, since i had a hard time avoiding ethan at school.

ive been avoiding his calls and texts and him in general.

i stuck with grayson and emma throughout he school day hiding from ethan.
