"What the hell are you doing here?" I ask, my voice stern and loud.
Adrian sits on my front steps, phone in his hands. His hazel green eyes stare at me. They scan over my body, making me feel sicker than I already do.
"Hey, Hailey," he breaths, his voice softer than I remember.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I repeat, not moving from beside my car.
"I came to talk to you," he answers. "To make up."
"I'm not going to talk to you. I think you should leave," I snap, unable to hide my disgust at him.
Adrian smirks sadly. His black hair pushed over to the side of his forehead. "You don't have to talk. Just listen."
I swallow, crossing my arms.
"Fine," I tell him.
"Can we go inside? I don't really want everyone to hear my feelings," Adrian asks, looking around.
I roll my eyes, pushing past him to the front door. "You were never able to share your feelings."
Kathy stands in the doorway, breakfast in her hands.
"Did you sneak out again?" She asks, looking around to see Adrian. She frowns. "What are you doing here?"
"He's okay this time, Kathy. He's only going to be here for a bit. And I'm not hungry, just save it for later," I instruct. Kathy swallows, giving Adrian a glare and then walks out of the room.
I sit down on the couch, and am surprised when Adrian sits down next to me. Not really close, but close enough to make my skin crawl.
"I don't know why I did what I did, and that doesn't make it any better. I think, I was just scared because I have never had anyone that close to me before. You were the first. And now after all this time, I realize how good you were for me. You loved me and I loved you. I know I hurt you bad, but just give me a second chance. I know I will make things right again."
Adrian's voice sends shivers down my spine. Seeing him here, sitting next to me, is my worst nightmare. It's like death is staring me in the face, saying he is sorry.
He looks at me to say something.
"You think that you can just walk on in here and say you're sorry and things will be okay?" I snap, anger getting the best of me. "Adrain, after you left me, I walked home, sobbing, while it was fucking pouring. I didn't talk for three months because I was heartbroken! Just being in the same room brings back the pain! I know you say 'you're sorry', but I don't know if I will ever trust you again, let alone love you again. And I'm actually happy about that."
Adrian closes his eyes, slowing nodding after about a minute of dead silence.
"Hailey, I let you walk away. No, I made you walk away from me. I was the stupidest piece of fucking shit, and I still am. But, when we were together, you made me into the better me. You changed me. And I pushed you away," he explains, his voice a low whisper. "I pushed you away."
My heart pulls to believe him. To believe he wants me back. I mean, he is practically crying for me. Crying!
I swallow, keeping my face calm.
"I just can't..." I trail off, unable to finish my sentence.
Just then, the phone rings in the kitchen. I hear Kathy pick it up. Through the dead silence, I can hear Kathy screaming and yelling.
God, she does yell a lot.
"Adrain!" She yells, walking into the room.
"Yes?" He answers, his voice breaking in the middle.
"I guess you are staying here," Kathy tells us.
