School wasn't always this bad. Actually, it used to be fun. Yes, I know, school and fun in the same sentence, how could someone ever say such a thing? For me though, it was. I had everything I could ask for. A best friend who always had my back, and a boyfriend who loved me more than anything. It was all peachy keen for the first three years, but then homecoming of senior year rolled around and Maya, my ex best friend didn't get on homecoming court. She ended up losing by one vote... to me.

She seemed fine at the time, didn't bitch at me once even. Maya even congratulated me and said she couldn't wait to see her 'best friend' walk out looking more gorgeous than ever. I thanked her, but at the same time I showed sympathy, telling her I wished she would have made it instead of me. She must have not believed me, because she ended up talking mad shit behind my back.

"Annie only won because she had pity votes."

"Everyone felt bad for her so they voted for her."

"I don't understand, she's not even pretty, how does Asher even like her?"

Every time she said those things to someone, their response would be,

"Aren't you guys like best friends or something?"

And she'd reply,

"Yeah, only because her parents pay me."

That was only the beginning, and honestly, compared to the end, I'd rather relive the beginning over and over again.

Sadly, I didn't find out Maya was saying those things about me until everything happened. The whole entire time leading up to homecoming, she told me other people where talking shit about me. My first instinct was to get pissed, I made sure each and every name that came out of Maya's mouth went on my shit list. After that happened, I lost many friends, assuming they were the ones talking behind my back. I know it's high school drama, but I wasn't having it.

I thought everything was fine until homecoming came around. Asher, my boyfriend, decided to tell me he didn't 'feel good'. Supposedly, he got food poisoning and was throwing up. As sad as I was, he told me to go and have fun with my friends. Not wanting to let him down, I went with a group of girls, including Maya. Last second, before we went to dinner she dropped out. Saying her grandma just got rushed to the hospital. Like I always do, I was a good friend and asked her if she needed me to take her.

Maya declined.

So that left me with the group of girls who were mainly Maya's friends. Everything went well after that, we went to dinner then to the dance. Court ran smoothly, and once twelve o'clock hit, I decided to surprise Asher with a bunch of his favorite drinks to make him feel better.

I didn't text him, and I'm glad I didn't, because what happened next, well, it was a shit show.

Arriving at Asher's house, nobody was home like I expected. His parents were on vacation, and the only vehicle that was in the drive way was his. Finding the hidden key, I maneuvered my way in and walked as quietly as I could up the steps. As I made my way up, I heard faint sounds coming from his door. Honestly, the thought of him cheating never came across my mind... for a second, I figured he was watching porn.

Not even deciding to knock, I opened his door, and what I saw was unseeable.

There was my best friend, naked, right on top of my boyfriend.

The bag of drinks fell to the ground, and both of them looked at me with wide eyes. At this point I was just completely shocked, I had no idea what to do so I stormed out.
