"Holy fuck," Laurie spoke, completely bewildered. My heart started to pound out of control, and my hands became very shaky.

"Mom, please sit down." I calmly said, walking over to her. She didn't say anything, only stared at my real parents. Placing my hand on her arm, I felt her shaking as well. Leading her over to the chair, she sat down. I stayed standing next her.

Looking over at my real parents, my mom had tears in her eyes, while my dad kept a straight face. Emma, Ethan, Grayson, and James stayed quiet, watching what was going down. Ethan, Grayson, and James must have figured it was time for them to leave us alone, walking up the stairs, most likely to my room.

Silence filled the air, the quietest silence I've ever heard, even felt.

Once we all heard the bedroom door close, a deep sigh came from Laurie, drawing all the attention on her. She looked up at me, with furrowed eyebrows.

"How did you find them?" She sounded breathless. As if she was having a mini panic attack without us even knowing.

I looked over to Emma, "She saw one of my YouTube videos, realized how similar we looked, and made this whole contest up so she could meet me, see if we were actually twins." Hearing myself say this out loud slowly made me angry. What is up with my emotions? It's like I'm sad one minute and angry the next.

Laurie looked at Emma, then at me. "I don't know what to say." Is all she said, running her hands up and down her thighs. She had a blank stare on her face.

We definitely took her off guard.

"How about why you picked up and left, Laurie? Let's start from there." My father stated rather sternly. I don't blame him, this is his step sister that he loved so much that he let her have me.

She looked down, playing with her wedding ring. I noticed she always did this when she was nervous. I'm happy she is nervous, she should be. We all deserve to know the real reason.

"He didn't want her." She whispered, I could barley even hear her and I was standing next to her.

"Who didn't want who?" My Mom asked for all of us. My heart began to thump harder, not knowing if I was ready for the truth.

"Jim didn't want Annabelle." She said louder this time, finally looking up. Once her eyes met mine, I watched as tears fell down her cheeks.

My stomach dropped even though I figured he didn't want me. My whole life he has treated me like I wasn't his. He was never a good father figure.

"But I thought both of you wanted me to be your surrogate?" Mom asked Laurie, completely confused. I understand why she would be. If Laurie and Jim didn't want a baby she would have never handed me over to them.

Laurie sighed, another tear rolling down her cheek in the process. "We did, we both wanted you to be our sergeant. Even when the twins were born, we still wanted Annie."

My emotions began to intensify every time she talked. Feeling anger rush up inside of me, I blurted out, "Get to the damn point, when did Jim decide he didn't want me?"

Everyone looked at me, not expecting my sudden out burst.

Laurie ran her hand through her hair. "When we decided to move away. Jim thought if we got ourselves away from the situation then he'd see you as his daughter."

I nodded, slowly understanding. "But he didn't, so basically you separated us for no reason."

This is not all Jim's fault. The majority of it is, but Laurie could have stood her ground. She could have divorced this fucker and moved back. Clearly she couldn't, but why? I've seen it my whole life growing up, the disagreements and the bickering. She's smarter, stronger than this. She could have moved back.
