chapter four: Ouch

Ryunosuke didn't understand why Rinka was being so distant. When ever he would attempt to talk to her she would suddenly have businesses to attend to. He thought it could all be inside his head, until Karma pointed it out as well. He finally decided once and for all that he was going to be a man and ask her! He just had to catch her alone, before she went home. As well as before she went outside to eat (he never found out where, he looked though). Or maybe before she took her after-practice-bento-break, which she also suddenly started doing. Yep, she definitely was avoiding him, and he was going to find out why.

"Leave me alone, I don't want to talk to you, Chiba" Rinka growled. The boy took a step back, suprised by her out burst, he simply asked what was bothering her. He didn't quite understand. Until a month ago they had been inseparable friends. They usually talked to each other (and usually only to each other) about their problems. Was it just a girl thing?  On his walk home he detoured so he would catch Midori. He described the changes in Rinka and asked for her opinion. "I think she's just being a bitch, she probably thinks she is just too good for you" Midori said, annoyed about her boyfriend taking special notice to another girl. Chiba didn't think that was the case though and his face (what you could see of it) definitely said so. "Or she might have a boyfriend" Midori said, trying to lighten the mood " if she does than we might be able to double" she said in her ever cheerful manner there was something about that conclusion that put Ryu on edge

Rinka felt like skinning Karma and turning him into a rug. He had used pictures he took of she and Ryu that night on the roof  almost two months ago to blackmail her into going with someone to the *Exitement? At The Rave* concert. She thought for almost a whole day about just saying no, letting the rumors spread. Then she thought of Ryu, how happy he and Midori were. She would hate to ruin it no matter how much it hurt to see them together. She asked Isogai, becouse she new he liked the band and President Poverty would never be able to afford tickets but, his crush, Megu had already gotten tickets and invited him. She had asked Nagisa, but Karma had already given him a ticket too.
In the end she chose Sugaya. She didn't think he was a bad person, so why not.

Ryunosuke was not sure what he was feeling. He wasn't mad, he had no reason to be disappointed, he wasn't sad either, but he definitely wasn't happy.
He couldn't be jealous, right? He had no reason to be jealous of Sugaya. Sure he was hurt Rinka hadn't told him sooner, they were still friends after all. But jealous? Of Sugaya? Naw. Ryunosuke had Midori ( who btw had the theory of Rinka having a boyfriend) he had no reason to be jealous.

Ryunosuke had no clue why it bothered him so bad. He was so full of rage he couldn't see strait. He just couldn't stop thinking about it. Before afternoon classes he decided to go to the armory shed when he got there he distinctly heard Rinka say " I really don't think we should" then Sugaya saying "Just once wouldn't hurt too bad, I'm sure" then Rinka sighing " I guess we could try it" before coming out of the ammo closet and running into him. She simply said "Excuse me" and stalked away. Ryu was so deep in thought that when he was called to practice arena to fight another classmate. Only half concious (from being in deep thought about the afternoon events) he seen a fist flying at his face. He doged, twisted into his opponent and with all the rage built up within him landed a solidid elbow into their solar plexus. He opened his eyes to see a combat-dressed Rinka coughing on the ground
