I would like to note that while writing this chapter, my knee randomly started bleeding. If you start to bleed while reading this chapter, then this chapter must be possessed. My condolences.  -A broken sock.

I stared at his ring finger for about a minute when he intervened with my thoughts.

"Everest? Is there something wrong?" he asked. I picked my chin back up to meet his brown eyes. I stared quizzically at him.

"We're best friends, right?" I asked while looking straight into his eyes.

"Of course we're friends. What is it?" he asked. I sighed. I leaned toward his ear.

"I think I discovered that I have other powers," I whispered. He leaned back in shock.

"Does the Stark band shock you when you use these powers?" he asked. I shook my head.

"No, it's more like I see things others can't like for example; there's a red string tied around your ring finger," I pointed at his finger, "And Peter had one too, and my friend, Annabelle had one as well, but neither of theirs shined as bright as yours does," I explained. He looked at his ring finger. He, of course, saw nothing, but his finger.

"I don't see anything, Everest," he said. What was he expecting? I told him I was the only one who could see it.

"May I test my, what do you call it? Hypothesis?" I asked. He nodded. I got off of his desk and he followed. We walked out of the door and I started following his string. There were several others on the ground, but his string still shined the brightest. We eventually came across the gym. The string led into the room where Ms. Romanoff was training. We looked through the window on the door. Surely enough, she and Doctor Banner shared the same bright red string. "Come on," I mouthed to Doctor Banner. We went back to his classroom.

"What was that about?" he asked.

"Doctor Banner and Ms.Romanoff share the same red string," I mumbled to myself, "Soulmates?"

"What're you mumbling about? Soulmates?" he asked.

"Ah! Sorry, I should probably go! It must be almost time for inhuman curfew," I explained as I rushed out of his classroom. I needed to think on my own.

I was running to the elevator trying so hard not to trip. Suddenly, a foot emerged in front of me. I toppled over, then heard snickering. I looked up to see two girls and two boys pointing and laughing at me.

"Isn't it bedtime for you freaks?" one of the boys mocked. I quickly stood up and brushed off my shorts. I saw that my knees were bleeding. I was heading toward the elevator when I felt a tug on my hair.

"Where do you think you're going?" one of the girls said. She had short ginger hair and blue eyes. Freckles were spread across her face.

"Let me go," I stated.

"Oh. What's this? Our Place?" the other girl said, ripping the sticky note off of my forehead.

"Give it back!" I yelled. I was furious.

"Make me!" she said, "You can't use your powers. You're helpless." Then without even thinking, I kicked the ginger in the shin. She let go of me out of shock and pain. Then I hit the other girl on the cheek. My skin was glowing a faint red. I felt the shock on my wrists, but I ignored it. I quickly grabbed the sticky note and ran into the elevator.

I started coughing harshly. My legs became weak. I coughed up fireflies. They were fiery red, then they vanished, leaving small red shimmers on the floor.

I walked cautiously to my dorm. The door opened as I approached. Annabelle, Jazzy, and Leslie were peacefully sleeping already on the twin sized beds. I quickly headed towards the bathroom. I grabbed a box of band-aids and sat on the edge of the bathtub. I put bandages on my bleeding knees, then I wrapped my hand. I had hurt my hand while punching that girl. She had sharp cheekbones, okay?

I got changed in my worn out pajamas and headed to bed to be met by another strange dream.
