Inhuman Etiquette

I trudged out of his office. I wish I was more like Jazzy, she wouldn't have taken that bull crap.

"Hey, Everest!" I heard a familiar voice say. I looked up. It was Peter!

"Hey," I said, giving him a sad smile and wave.

"Uh, I want to introduce you to my best friend. This is Ned!" he said as he gestured toward the boy next to him.

"Woah! You're an inhuman, right?" Ned asked. I chuckled awkwardly at his question as I rubbed the back of my neck.

"Uh, yeah... I am," I answered.

"Cool! What can you do?" he asked. I was taken aback since that was considered a rude question to inhumans.

"Dude, that's so rude!" Peter whispered harshly as he slightly hit Ned's arm, "I am so sorry, Everest. He doesn't exactly know the inhuman etiquette." How did he know the inhuman etiquette?

"Ah, it's okay," I giggled nervously, "If he didn't know, it's not his fault."

"I'm still sorry," Ned said this time.

"No, really, it's okay, just don't do it to the next inhuman you see and don't ask if they're inhuman as well," I reminded, "I should go. I have to go do my chores. See ya guys later!" I yelled as I ran toward the broom closet.

...

"Hey, Doctor Banner!" I giggled as I entered his classroom. I saw him pacing the room, mumbling to himself as he did so. "Doctor Banner?" I asked.

"Ah! Oh, Everest, it's just you," he sighed out of relief.

"What're you doing?" I asked.

"Tonight's the night I'm proposing," he sighed, "But I don't think it'll be good enough." He slumped into his chair.

"Why do you say that?" I say as I lean on the back of his chair.

"Because it's too normal for someone like her! She needs something special!" he complained.

"Well, remember that no matter what, today will always be remembered by you both as one of the most special days in your lives," I reminded him as I put a hand on his shoulder, "And you're forgetting that your best friend has mystical powers that can make things glow and shine. If you can convince Mr. Stark to turn the voltage off, I can make tonight extra special!"

He pondered my suggestion. He did want tonight to be special, but he also didn't want to bother Tony since he had already done so much for this night.

"Okay, I'll go talk to Tony," he said as he stood up. We both walked out of his classroom, heading to Mr. Stark's office. The doors opened and we entered. Mr. Stark first looked at me then at Doctor Banner.

"What do you want?" Tony asked.

"I was wondering if you could turn off the voltage on Everest's band so that she can make my proposal extra special?" Doctor Banner asked. My skin glowed a light purple as I looked at my shoes.

"It would only be for tonight," I mumbled.

"Yeah, Tony. Just for tonight and I trust her," he said as he pulled me into his side.

"You mean you trust it," Mr. Stark corrected.

"Tony!" Doctor Banner yelled.

"It's okay. I've heard worse," I mumbled as I tugged on his sleeve.

"Please, Tony. We're friends, aren't we?" Doctor Banner begged. Mr. Stark looked his friend up and down. "Science Bros?" Bruce asked holding out a fist.

"Science Bros," Mr. Stark confirmed giving Doctor Banner a fist pound. "Fine," Mr. Stark groaned. He put in his password for my band and turned the voltage down to zero. My colors shined brightly and there was no electric shock to stop it.

We walked out of the building and I wasn't even stopped. The cold New York air felt good on my face. My skin glowed a bright gold.

"You must be happy," he said.

"I am! I haven't been able to do this for a long time!" I squealed. Doctor Banner laughed at my antics.

"My car's over there," he said pointing towards a sleek black car that totally wasn't his style. "I know it doesn't look like my style, but it was a gift from Tony." I nodded as I sprinted towards the car.
