Chapter Nine

Kakashi's words rang through your head, your lips seemingly to be in a permanent smile.

"And I want more than anything for that person to be you."

You hugged him tightly, a warm feeling cascading through your heart. "I'll always be here for you Kakai Sensei."

You feel his arms tighten around you, making you feel the safest you have felt in a long time.

"I could stay like this for a long time, (y/n). But we do have a mission to complete." He pulls away, leaving his hands on your shoulders.

You nod your head in agreement, still smiling as you look up at him. "I'm gonna go get Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto. I know Sasuke is probably ready to rip his hair out, especially if Naruto started his I-Spy game again." You laughed as you started walking away towards the trees they had went through earlier.

You walk for about ten seconds before you hear Naruto scream again. "Hah! I tricked you again! It was that leaf!" In which Sakura groaned in return. "That. Isn't. How. You. PLAY THIS GAME!"

You walk towards them, giggling to yourself as you see Sasuke sitting against a tree with his head in his hands, elbows propped up on his knees.

"What're you doing sitting around? We do have a mission to complete." You laugh a bit, grabbing his hand and pulling him up.

"Yeah, I know that. But do you?" Sasuke said, jerking his hand away once he got to his feet leaving him with a hint of anger in his eyes.

You look at him, your face forming a confused look. "Woah, what's your deal?" You asked, a hint of sass in your voice.

"My deal is that I had to sit here for the past ten minutes just listening to these two imbeciles scream at each other as if they weren't," he turns his head and looks at them,"TWO FEET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER!" He looks at you, "while you were out there, comforting KaKaShI!" He said his name in mocking tone, putting his hands up and waving them around in the air. "I swear it's like you don't even care about the rest of us anymore! You're way to busy with your head shoved up Kakashi's ass to even notice anyone or anything that's going on beside you!"

You stood there, staring at him, a perplexed look on your face.

He stares at you, dead in the eyes, breathing heavily from the amount he was yelling.

"Ummmm we're gonna go over there!" Sakura said, pushing Naruto and running back in the direction of their Sensei.

You keep looking at him, wondering what the hell he was going on about.

"...I didn't ask you to do that, Sasuke.." you say, not knowing what else to do.

"You didn't have to. Me being the good friend I am I did it on my own, so that way you didn't have to deal with loud mouths over there!"

"And I understand that.. but why are you getting so mad. I still didn't ask you to...he was breaking down.. what, was I just suppo-"

He cut you off by walking up to you and putting his hand over your mouth.

"It wasn't just now, (y/n)! It's been this whole trip! At the front gates in Konaha! In the middle of the woods with the whole hickey thing! In the damn hot springs for crying out loud! I may not have seen it but come on that one was pretty damn predictable!"

You lick his hand to get him to move it, and much to your prevail he did but not without a gross "ugh" and wiping it on your face.

"Look Sasuke.. it seemed like earlier you didn't have a problem with it.. now all of a sudden you do? You know how I feel about Kakashi. You've always been supportive of my liking to him.. so why now is it bothering you huh? Why now do you choose to be mad? And why at me?"

He just stared at you, a look of sorrow and anger mixed together glared daggers into your own.

"It's bothering me now because I don't have my best friend anymore. I have a love sick little girl who believes she is in love with this man so much, that it consumes her every thought, all she talks about, all she thinks about. Well guess what, (y/n)? I know the real reason you're with him is because you are still just some little girl who is trying to get an older man to make up for the daddy she doesn't have anymore!" He shouted as he stepped closer to you.

You never broke eye contact, not even to blink. You felt the tears welling up in your eyes and your face going red. You bit your lip so hard that blood trickled from them. You balled your right fist so hard your nails dug into your palm, breaking the skin.

Your blood boiled with anger. So much anger that you lifted your left hand up and slapped him, right across the face.

"AGH!" Sasuke screamed, placing his hand on his right cheek and rubbing it gently.

He looked back up at you. You couldn't tell if it was anger or regret in his eyes, but either way you didn't want to look at him anymore.

"Yes Sasuke, I believe I am in love with him. But even before that, I had him in my life as a teacher and a friend. A great one at that. One I know I could trust with my secrets and he wouldn't use them to his advantage to knock me down. Maybe you should take notes...."

And with that you turned away, following the path to your other team members.

"(Y/n) wait..." you hear Sasuke call from behind you.

You just shake your head slightly and ignore him, trying not to break into tears.

You make it to the rest of Team Seven, not looking at anyone, not even Kakashi. You just keep walking straight, wanting nothing more but to get this damn mission over with.

"Wait, what's wrong with (y/n)?" You heard Kakashi ask the other two.

"It could be because Sasuke yelled at her." Sakura said, a shrug bouncing off her shoulders.

"Yeah things got pretty intense back there which is why Sakura and I came back over here. Things were getting wild. And not in the good way." Naruto said with his signature stupid laugh. You could hear the slap on the head that Sakura more than likely gave him.

Not long after that you heard Sasuke come out of the woods, but only his feet because the other three stayed still and he didn't dare speak.

"Geez Sasuke what happened to your face?!" Naruto asked, stupidly moving his hand closer to touch it. Sasuke slapped his hand out of the way and just started walking. "I don't want to talk about it." He says as they all start walking.

"Damn, did (y/n) do that??" You heard Sakura ask. "Oh come here Sasuke let me at least place a cold rag on that for you." Even though you knew Sakura was faking it, it still really annoyed you how clingy she was being.

"It's just a mark it will go away. Unlike you who seems to constantly be up my ass!" Sasuke exclaimed rudely, walking faster to get away from the pinkette.

"Jeez... I was just trying to be nice... what happened with them?" Sakura asked, as if anyone else had the answer.

"I have no clue, Sakura." Kakashi said with a sigh. "All I know is, if they don't make up... it's going to be one long mission..."
