You walked through the black gates of the old Uchiha compound. You could still see blood staining the streets as you walked down the long stretch of houses, a small stench of death lingering in the air.

You walked down until you saw the only building with a light shining through its window, approaching the solemn building and stopping right before the door.

You shivered as chills went down your spine, a feeling of dour washing over your body.

In all of the years you and Sasuke had been best friends, you never really stayed at his house. Sure, you visited, but you could never bring yourself to stay for over an hour yet along a whole night. He understood why. It felt as if the eyes of the clan that used to reside here were always on you, ghostly but existing.

You closed your eyes and shook your head, bringing your running thoughts to a halt as you reached your hand up and knocked rather aggressively on the door.

You expected it to take a few seconds to open, but much to your surprise before you knocked a third time, the door swung open to reveal a tall, still nicely dressed figure peering down at you.

"What is it, (y/n)?" Your best friend asked as he leaned against the door frame. His voice stung your heart with how icy it was. Not warm or welcoming at all..

"I u-uh..." you stuttered.

"Look, I don't have time for uncertain words or untimely visits. I'll ask one more time. What. Do. You. Need?" As he spoke, he leaned a bit closer to you, his body still supported against the doorframe and his arms crossing his chest.

You could feel the anger boiling in the pit of your stomach. Your brows furrowed together as anger tugged your lips into a frown. You pushed past Sasuke, entering his household and taking your shoes off by the door. "I came here," you started as you walked and sat yourself down on his couch. "To find out why you fled the dinner so quickly."

You didn't dare look at him. You knew he didn't like people strutting on in to his household without his inviting to do so. So, instead of speaking directly to him, you spoke to his coffee table instead.

You felt the cushion next to you cave in, the presence of a warm body but a cold aura connecting with your own existence.

"Look at me." The Uchiha demanded.

You did so, meeting his cold eyes. His left leg lied bent at the knee, his ankle lying restlessly on his right thigh. His left arm wrapped around the back of the couch, his hand resting right above your head. His black hair hung messily in his eyes like it always did whenever he didn't wear his hidden leaf head band.

"I left, because I could."

"Bullshit."

"Excuse me? You come here, in my home, asking me questions and accusing me of lying about the answers?"

"Yes." You got to your feet and stood in front of him. "I know you, Sasuke. Or have you forgotten that we have been best friends for as long as I can remember? When something bothers you that you can't control, you retreat to your "humble abode" without facing the problem at hand. Much differently than how you deal with enemies, in which you take head on. So I'm going to ask you again. What was so wrong that you had to leave a special moment in my life?"

You could feel your body shaking, in which you didn't know why. Maybe because you never before had the guts to stand up to your best friend? There was that one time in the forest, but besides that, you always just let him sulk until he came back around.

He stood up, his body towering over you again but his eyes never leaving yours.

His eyes moved quickly over your face, examine your facial features as if he hadn't ever seen them before. "Oh, I haven't forgotten that we are best friends, (y/n). It seems to me like you are the one who has, or who has chosen to ignore it at least."
