I agree that I have portrayed Khushi weak here but I request you to keep patient and she will surely emerge as a strong woman. Have patience, just like in Tere Liye you guys did! :)

Also, I have drafted till chapter 26! :)

She sighed placing back the half empty glass back at the counter after quenching her thirst and turned to be face to face with NK. She was stunned for a second seeing his brooding eyes but then regained her form and tried walking past him.

"Payal Bhabhi, Please!" He pleaded pulling her back by her elbow and she managed to put on a smile on her face before she was again facing him.

"Ji NKji?Did you need anything?" She asked in a perfect host voice and tone, causing him to inwardly flince at her lack of familiarity.

"Payal Bhabhi-"

"Bhabhi? (Sister-in-law?)" Payal interjected, her voice shaking a bit "Looks like you are confusing your relations Mr. NK! I'm not your sister-in-law or in any way related to you! I'm just a host and you are a guest! If you need anything then feel free to tell me, if not then I request you to let me go!" She said, her gaze lingered on the ground and she walked away freeing her hand from his hold.

"Rishte jhutlane se rishte badal nahi jate, Bhabhi! (By declining the relationship, the relationship won't actually change!)" She stopped halfway hearing his voice and stood still as he added,

"You might decline it but I know I'm still your little brother with whom you used to share your feelings whenever Mami said something to you!"

She inhaled sharply sensing the pain in his voice at her indifference. She sure considered him as a brother and he did fulfill his responsibilities towards her like an ideal brother before leaving for Sydney but now everything has changed. Feelings were same but the course of life has taken them to such a point where relationships are no longer same.

"Sach kaha aapne! Rishte jhutlane se rishte badal nahi jate lekin.. (You are right! Relationships won't change by declining it but...)" She took a second to turn to him and then added in a low voice, "Lekin toot zaroor jate hai! Aur yahan toh aapke pure parivaar ne hummein aur humare behen ko hi jhutla diya, aise mein kaisa rishta aur kaisa parivar? (But they do break! And here, your whole family declined me and my sister as a whole. In such case, what kind of relationship and what kind of family?)"

NK gasped at the amount of pain she held in her eyes and felt a sheen line of water blurring his view as she gathered herself and added with a mirthless smile when she heard voice of his Mami from outside.

"Go, your family is looking for you! It's time to leave!" With that, she turned around and walked away, ignoring his last shout.

NK sighed dejectedly and slowly moved to join his family from which Arnav had already escaped, giving his headache as an excuse.
