Calum had spent the day pacing around the hotel, not sitting down once. Too many things on his mind, well, one thing but many possibilities that could happen from that one thing.
Calum had called your father, asked for him to stop by the hotel, have a little talk, only Calum would not tell your father what the talk was about, he didn't even tell you, you didn't even know about this upcoming meeting between the two most important men of your life. He was beyond nervous, he wanted to ask your father for your hand in marriage. He knew what that meant to you, to have your father's permission.
Early on in your relationship you guys had talked about marriage in the future, you had laughed and told him that you'd only say yes if he had gotten your father's permission first. No permission, no marriage and all Calum wanted was to make you his wife, it's what he's wanted for the longest time, he was just so nervous to ask, but now, he knew he had to get it over with, it was just one question! Just one question to ask, how hard could that be?
Harder than you could think.
"Sit down, Calum, damn." Michael huffed as he continued to play a video game with Luke. "You've been a nervous wreck all day!"
"Yeah." Ashton agreed, looking up from his notebook of music. "What's going on with you?"
Calum only shook his head. "You guys will find out."
A knock at the hotel door had Calum frozen in his steps. It must've been your father. When everyone saw that Calum wasn't going to answer the door, Ashton put his notebook to the side and opened the door and in walked your father.
At the sight of your father, Calum's hands grew clammy, he felt the sweat trickling from his neck and down his back. This was the moment he'd been waiting for, it was finally here, and now Calum couldn't speak, hell he couldn't even think.
Your dad strolled in with a knowing grin on his face as he saw Calum. "You're nervous. Asked me to come here, I think I know what's going on, however, I'd love to hear it from you." He sat down on the couch next to Ashton who along with Luke and Michael, was turning their heads between your father and Calum, confusion evident on their faces. "Calum?" he asked again and Calum shook his head, jumping up and down on his feet.
"I want to ask...." He drawled out, letting the words float away in the wind, his hands finding his pockets as he searched his brain for the words he knew to ask but couldn't get his tongue to speak. "Need to ask about (YN)..."
Your father's smirk grew, he was enjoying this a little too much, for all he cared, Calum could stutter his way through this all night.
"Your daughter means the world to me..." Calum tried again and your father decided to stop the torture on Calum, much to his relief.
"Relax Calum, like I said before, I think I know what this is about and from the way you can't get words out of your mouth, I believe I'm right. You want to ask me for permission to marry my daughter, don't you?"
Once the words left your father's mouth, Michael, Luke and Ashton's jaws all dropped, they were not expecting this. Or maybe they were, maybe it was just the awkward tension in the room that had the video game and notebook forgotten, for they had a new source of entertainment in front of them going on.
Calum only nodded, letting a breath he had been holding in. "Yeah, can I marry your daughter?"
Your father stood from the couch and smiled, placing his hand onto Calum's shoulder. "There is no man better to marry my daughter than you, Calum! You've been with her for years and since the day she first met you, after she called me and asked what it felt like when I fell in love with her mother cause she thought she may have felt the same thing with a dark haired boy at the studio where she'd gotten her first job."
"The first day we met?" Calum asked.
"Yeah." Your father couldn't keep the smile off his face. "From the day she met you, she knew you were the one and I know she's been waiting for this for a long time. She's had her dream wedding planned since she was like six years old, so you ask her and she'll have that wedding planned and ready to go by tomorrow."
Calum felt relief flooding his body. He had gotten permission to marry you from your father, your one condition and he'd met it. "Thank you."
"Dad?" you asked walking into the room, Crystal at your side. "What are you doing here and why does Calum look like he's scared to all hell?"
Your father and Calum shared a look. "Nothing, (YN), just a one on one chat."
"About?" you pressed as you came to Calum's side, he grinned at you.
"Just trust me, you're going to love it."
