The three of you sat in a diner, enjoying a nice meal now that Ashton was back home from tour. Ashton had actually requested that your father joined you guys, you gave him a weird look.
"You really want to have dinner with me and my father, the day you get back from tour? You don't want to be with just me, in this bedroom, just us and no clothes?" you asked and batted your eyelashes as Ashton's arms snaked around your waist and pulled you close.
"Later tonight, I promise. It's been a while since I've seen him, and I think some good can come out of a dinner with you two."
"Your funeral." You smirked as you found a nice outfit for the dinner.
As you guys ate your meal, a light conversation going on, your phone decided to ring. It was your mother and you sighed as you looked between the two of them. "I'm going to step outside and take this, she tried calling five times already, this isn't going to be good. I'll be back in a few minutes." So, you walked away leaving Ashton and your dad alone at the table.
Ashton carefully watched as you left outside the restaurant and grinned when he noticed he could see you from where he sat.
Your father followed his gaze and snapped his fingers, bringing the drummer's attention back to him. "Eyes on me, Irwin."
Ashton chuckled. "Sorry, I've missed her. And now that I've got you alone, I have a question I want to ask you." He paused for the smallest of moments before that grin you loved so much took over his face. "I want to know if I have your permission to marry your daughter? I've been thinking about it all tour and came to the decision that I want nothing else in this world than to be her husband. What do you say?"
Your dad set his fork down calmly as he then folded his hands on the table and stared Ashton down. "You want to marry my daughter? Is this why you wanted us to have dinner just the three of us? Did you get her mother involved in this to get her away?"
He was caught and he knew it, Ashton only shrugged. "I've come up with multiple ways I could get you alone and ask her and, her mother called me asking something and that's when I came up with this idea."
"Clever." Your father responded. "I'm sure you want an answer to your question now?" Ashton nodded and your father let out a deep sigh. "I hate seeing my little girl grow up, but..." he trailed off seeing you outside still talking on the phone, a smile lighting up your face at something your mother was saying. "But she seems happy with you, she's been hurt before and didn't know if she would fall for a guy again but then you came along and I don't know if it was your accent or your job, but you won her over. I never want to see my little girl hurt again, Ashton, I will never see my little girl hurt again. I give you permission to marry her only if you never hurt her."
Ashton put his hands up in defense. "I'd never hurt her. I couldn't even imagine hurting her. She's too amazing of a girl."
"You got that right, now here she comes, what do we say we were talking about?"
Ashton shook his head, he hadn't thought that far ahead. You sat back down next to Ashton and picked at your food again. "I swear, mom never shuts up. All she wanted to talk to me about was something about a craft show she wanted to do next weekend. She hates crafts, always has, but now she said she loves it? I don't understand that woman!" you laugh.
Your father smirked. "I've been with her over twenty years, (YN), I still don't understand her, don't worry."
You laugh and look between them. "So, what did you guys talk about while I was gone? Work again I assume?" It wasn't unusual for your dad to bring up work with anyone and everyone, he loved talking about what he did and he generally was always interested in whatever the other person was doing, no matter how many times the subject came up.
"Yeah." They responded at the same time.
The meal came to an and a short while later and you hugged your dad before grabbing your purse. "Thanks for coming to dinner with us, dad, I've missed this and I like it when you and Ashton get together! A little bonding never hurt anyone."
"You're welcome, (YN)! Ashton!" he yelled and motioned for you to step aside, he wanted a private conversation with your boyfriend. "I promise to act surprised when she calls us later to tell us that you asked her. You do have the ring right?"
Ashton patted his pocket and smirked at your father. "Right here. Don't go to bed too early tonight, you'll be receiving a phone call pretty soon."
The two shared a small hug before you and Ashton got into your car to head home. "What was that hug about Ashton? He never hugs anyone?"
Ashton only shrugged as he drove. "Don't know. I just think he's finally warmed up to me."
