"I'm home!" You announced once you stepped into your shared apartment with Hoseok. Your eyes scanned the living room but he was nowhere to be found.
You darted into your bedroom in case he was lingering in there somewhere or still asleep.
The rapid beating of your heart calmed down once you saw his large frame sitting on the bed, turned away from you. Soft sniffles were audible, which confused you.
You finally came into conclusion—
Your boyfriend was crying.
Immediately, you rushed to his aid out of instinct. His eyes were swollen. It seemed he had been crying all day, though he didn't get home until a few hours after you left for work.
Your hands found their way to cup his face, gently wiping away his tear-stained cheeks with your thumbs. His eyes rested on the dark colored carpet, refusing to meet yours.
Hoseok's heart pounded in his chest. He needed to tell you the truth, something he couldn't keep and hide away anymore. It was eating him up inside and he needed to let it out.
He just didn't know how to say it without hurting you, though he knew it would tear you apart.
"Y/N.." Hoseok spoke after a little while, his voice low and dead, like he didn't have a soul anymore. You continued looking at him until he finally agreed to catch your gaze. He sighed heavily.
This was a sign.
"I found someone new."
New.
You froze in place, your mind telling you you probably misheard or something. This couldn't be happening.
Hoseok can't find someone new, he had you.
Right?
"Please tell me you're joking." Your voice was soft with a hint of disappointment. Hoseok was lying, he had to be. "Tell me the words you just spoke is a lie."
Your hands dropped to grab his, then you intertwined your fingers into his. His glassy eyes were apologizing but you didn't want to believe it.
"Please, I love you."
You pleaded, tears that were brimming in the corners of your eyes close to escaping. This feeling of betrayal was hurting you much more than you had intended.
Teardrops slipped from his eyes but you didn't wipe them away this time because—
he didn't wipe yours.
"I can't be with you anymore."
"Why? Why can't you be with me anymore?" You couldn't believe this was even happening.
"Only you're happy in our relationship. I'm not happy with you anymore and it's killing me." You removed your hands that were once connected with his.
Hoseok was guilty. He had been seeing someone else, and you knew. You didn't want to lose him, too. You didn't want to be so alone again.
When he had left last night for 'practice', you let him go, knowing he was meeting up with someone. You didn't stop him because he always came back to you after.
But you didn't expect he would leave you now.
"We don't love each other the same anymore." Hoseok explained. It hurt him so much to see you like this. He had never intended on hurting you.
"I still love you the same, maybe even more than back then. So, what went wrong?"
"I'm happier when I'm with her." His words punched you in the chest, the aggravating pain killing you softly. "I'm sorry."
Hoseok attempted to grab your hands but you jerked them away before backing up towards the door, shaking your head in disbelief.
He was really going to leave you for her now and there was nothing you could do.
"I should be sorry. I couldn't fulfill all your wishes to make you stay."
Now all the two of you could do was stand in each other's presence, not making a single sound. The air in the atmosphere was only getting more stuffy and uncomfortable.
Hoseok glanced at you, opening his mouth like he wanted to speak but wasn't sure of what to say.
"Although I couldn't be the one for you now, I hope you find someone who has the ability to treat you better than I have." Hoseok finally spoke out."
You didn't answer.
He thought that after wishing you the best you would actually be okay with him leaving you? Never in a million years would you be okay ever again.
Because you love Hoseok, who took your love for granted and you knew it.
You let him leave over and over because you actually thought he would come back every single time because he always did until now.
Hoseok stood up, dried his remaining tears, and left.
You guess you didn't need him if the person he wanted wasn't you—
but he left.
