"Let's break up." You said to him.
It's been days since he had talked to you. The last time you saw him, he was with another girl. She only kissed him on the cheek but you left before you saw anything else. You never confronted him because you thought it didn't matter. But now, it was eating you inside out. Was it the reason why he had been so distant?
Namjoon just gulped in a breath and sighed heavily. "No."
"But can't you see, we aren't working out." You fought back. Your heart was shattering with every word you said because you thought it was true. He didn't seem to think so.
"Then we'll make it work out—"
"I can't trust you easily anymore, Namjoon." He looked up at you with hurt in his eyes. What on earth does she mean by that? He looks taken back.
"What did I do that was so wrong that you don't even trust me anymore?" He rose his voice with every word. Should you tell him?
"Remember last week when you were with that girl?" He stiffened. "Remember when she kissed your cheek? Who knows what else you two have done."
"I can explain." By this point, you were disturbed.
"I'm done." You walked to the front door and twisted the doorknob. Then you walked out, still hearing his last sentence.
"That was a misunderstanding!"
You were hurt. Only then did you cry. After you walked out, you cried. You cried and cried. That seemed to be all that you did. You've had other boyfriends before him but never one that you loved as much as him. He was your everything.
Meanwhile, Namjoon hid his pain. He tried to take it all away. One bottle of soju at a time. He would get as drunk as possible, go to the club, then reject girls and leave because he felt so disgusted with himself. He wanted you back. Scratch that. He needed you back. But he knew you were never going to take him back.
*two months later*
Two months has gone by and you seemed to be okay. Not too good, but not bad. He still lingers in your thoughts but it wasn't like he was always there. You felt like you both needed some closure but didn't want to see him ever again. So you stayed home at all times, missing and thinking of him often. Yes, you still loved him. But you knew you would get over him.
Namjoon parties out late at night with his friends. Every single day, he's be out. Then when he comes home, he'd be drunk and imagine you were still with him. It really hurts him because in the next morning, you weren't there with him. This went on for weeks. Until one night.
After leaving Hoseok's party, Namjoon was drunk out of his mind. He entered his house safely, using several keys before finding the right one. Then he ran to the roof. He couldn't take it anymore. He needed to release his pain and let it all out.
"(y/n)!" He stumbled on the shingles. "I love you! Everything was a misunderstanding."
He was tipsy and attempted to walk on the roof.
"Why did you leave—ah!" A body hit the ground.
Yoongi was getting ready for bed. Since he was the designated driver, he barely had any to drink. Normally he would tell his neighbors to shut up when they were loud, but he let Namjoon slide because he also knew the feeling of being heartbroken.
As soon as Namjoon stopped yelling, Yoongi knew something was wrong, especially when a loud thud was heard from next door. Yoongi went it the window and peeled out. Namjoon was nowhere in sight. Where was that idiot yelling from? The roof? Then it made sense. The roof. Loud yelling. A thud. What the fuck have you done, Namjoon?
Yoongi rushed outside and saw Namjoon's body on the ground. He wasn't moving. He placed a finger under his nose. He was breathing. That's a good sign. A very good sign. His eyes trailed to Namjoon's head. There was blood because it hit a large rock. Yoongi prayed. Please don't die now. It was all my fault. I should've stayed with him and made sure he was okay. Even though it was Jin's fault for giving him that much booze.
Yoongi reached for his phone and dialed 911. He sat there and debated whether he should tell you or not. After all, you two weren't together anymore and you were probably the cause of this. After a few minutes, the ambulance showed up and took Namjoon away, Yoongi tagging along with him. He should be asleep now, but this was his friend. Sleep could wait.
You were at home watching a movie alone when your phone rang from your pocket. What kind of idiot would be up this late? Oh yeah, you. You dug your phone out and read the contact name. Yoongi. One of Namjoon's friends. He was nice to you though. All of them were. So you picked up.
"What's up—"
"Namjoon fell from the roof and smashed his head against a rock pretty hard."
You couldn't tell if he was joking or not but your heart dropped. "Where is he now? I'll be there."
Yoongi gave you the address to the hospital they were taking him. You quickly got inside your car and sped off in the direction of your ex. Why do you still care anyways? You aren't together anymore.
*36 hours later*
Namjoon woke up in a strange, light room. He was laying on a hospital bed. Why was he in a hospital. His friends were asleep in the chairs, some on the ground. There was one person he didn't recognize. A girl. She laid her head at his legs. Her hands were intertwined with his. Her sleeping face was very beautiful. It caught his eye. But who was she?
Namjoon moved and felt a rush of pain run through his head, causing a slight groan to leave his lips. You woke up to see him awake. Oh how you were so happy. You swore to yourself to never leave him again if he woke up.
"Why am I here?" He asked you. You shrugged.
"You fell off a roof while you were drunk and hit your head hard." Just imagining the scene hurt you. As you could imagine him yelling out your name, cursing at you.
"Who are you?" Namjoon questioned. Your eyes widen.
"What?" You breathed out. The others were starting to wake up. Yoongi, still fast asleep.
"Do we know each other?" Was he joking? This is a prank, right? You could feel your heart shatter as more seconds of silence passed by.
"Hyung, that's your ex girlfriend." Jungkook said, entering the conversation. "(y/n)."
How could he remember them but not you? Were you someone he wanted to forget and he finally succeeded? No. No, this couldn't be happening. He can't have amnesia, especially forgetting only one specific person.
It was true. He had amnesia. The area that had hit the rock had knocked you out of his mind. You didn't exist to him anymore. He remembered everything and everyone, except you. All those cute and loving memories of you two were gone. Gone. But the doctor said it was possible for him to get them back.
When it was time for the hospital to discharge him, you were ready to part from him. This was all one-sided love now. For he had no memories of you, but you have tons of him.
As you were walking out of the hospital doors, a large hand grabbed your wrist. You turned around to come face to face with Namjoon. There was something about you that Namjoon had admired. He felt some kind of connection with you even though he has no memory of you.
"(y/n), help me remember."
From that day on, he spent days and weeks getting to know you again. Slowly but surely, you were coming back to him. He could remember little parts of your dates, remember the certain things you loved, and remember the love you two shared.
After two years, he finally remembered everything. Everything. He loved you and you loved him. That was all that mattered.
