The awkward silence danced around, filling the atmosphere with nothing, and already you knew something was about to happen.
Your boyfriend had brought you to a fancy dinner out of nowhere, upon not being home so often. You figured it was just another excuse to make up for leaving you to suffer his absence alone.
The food was amazing, Jin would've enjoyed it. It was no surprise that it was pricey, but how could Yoongi be able to afford both of your meals on a piano teacher salary?
It was a thought that had crossed your mind previously while you cut your food, watching as Yoongi did the same thing, enjoying his meal just as well as you.
Not that the surprise fancy dinner wasn't much of a surprise but the bill was an even bigger surprise. How could the restaurant charge a person that much?
Yoongi's eyes widened when he read the price, and instant rush of guilt ran through your bones.
"I'll pay for myself." You spoke, reaching for your clutch and unzipping it before Yoongi stopped your hands by gripping them.
"No, it's okay. I got it." Though he had sounded pretty confident, he couldn't hide the fact that he had gulped after that phrase.
Yoongi retrieved his wallet from his back pocket and removed a credit card from it's place.
Yoongi paid for the expensive dinner and you couldn't do anything but feel guilty.

"Y/N..." Yoongi mumbled. The boy had reached your attention, which was once out the window and now on him.
"Hm?" You hummed, playing with your fingers, the promise ring he gave you shining in the moonlight on the other side of the window.
"The reason why I had reserved the dinner was because I don't think we are compatible with each other anymore." Yoongi's face showed you an expression of guilt mixed with sorrow and exhaustion. Speechless, you could do nothing but read his face, afraid to hear the reason why he wanted to break up.
"I thought we were fine." You spoke up, clutching your bag closer, noticing the shine in your promise ring fading away like the love you and Yoongi used to share together as a loving couple.
To be correct, your relationship together was already broken two years ago, then it just started fading, almost losing it completely. Both of you were just too afraid to admit that your love was dying, though everyone could see it.
"We were fine, Y/N." Yoongi looked at you and you gave him the straightest face you could muster, not letting him see you were already breaking down, small droplets forming in your eyes. "We've been together five years, when has anything ever gotten better for both of us?"
"You have me and I have you." You replied, finally letting a tear fall.
Yoongi sighed, "Don't give me any of that bullshit. We had each other, but look where we are at now. You're still looking for a job and getting paid by your parents. And me? I'm still a fucking piano teacher who hates how bad those teens treat me."
You stayed silent, knowing all the words that came out of his mouth was true.
"We haven't improved in life." He threw his head back against the car seat. It was a good thing he had pulled up into both of your driveways before he had dropped the bomb.
"So this is how you want to do it? Reserve a fancy ass dinner for the both of us so you could break the news more gently? Was the dinner because you felt guilty?" Once you had started your rant, you couldn't stop anymore. "If you didn't love me anymore, you could've said it before, years ago. Not now when I finally love you the most and with all my heart—"
Yoongi looked offended. "When did I ever say I stopped loving you?"
"You may have not said it, but I can tell." Tears flowed like waterfalls down your eyes, your mascara coated lashes leaving a dark stain under your eyes. "Goodbye, Min Yoongi."
And just like that, you left a guilty and startled Yoongi in the driver seat, honking for you to come back and talk everything out.
He needed to explain everything, and you didn't give him a chance.
