It was around one in the afternoon, and Michelle held onto Stephanie's hand as they walked towards the building to David's company. Michelle couldn't help but gasp in awe at the sight of it as it was bigger than she imagined. She could only imagine the number if people in there working for him. Just by the way David acted especially around her, you wouldn't be able to tell that he was a very wealthy man due to how he didn't flash his money whenever and wherever, and it was only then that she truly realised just how important she was.
He was so successful professionally, but personally it felt as if his whole world was falling apart by each day.
She continued to gaze up at the tall building which had the words 'Morris enterprises' written right at the top in bold white and black letters. She thought nothing could simply top the Morris mansion until she laid eyes on the place David went to work each day. And to think he built all this on his own at such a young age.
"Can you wait to see your Daddy?" Michelle asked, glancing down at Stephanie who quickly nodded her head, whilst gripping onto her hand tightly.
She smiled down at the little girl, before strolling into the main entrance. It was even bigger inside than it was on the outside. There were many businessmen and women who were dressed in elegant and smart clothing attending to their duties and Michelle couldn't help but feel out of place in her jean skirt and oversized black hoodie. It didn't help that several of them had turned their attentions to her, and she sighed to herself realising that they had already started to whisper about her quietly to themselves. This was what always happened whenever she visited a predominantly white place, she always felt left out and like an outcast, not just because of the colour of her skin but the way she dressed. She quickly shrugged of all the stares she was getting, before going over to walk over to the front desk with Stephanie.
"Hello, we're here to see Mr Morris" she spoke up, nodding her head at the secretary, who typed away at her computer, refusing to even look up at her. Feeling more annoyed by the second, Michelle quickly cleared her throat causing the secretary to snap her head up at her. "I said we're here to see Mr Morris" she spoke again.
The secretary eyes her from head to toe judgmentally about to speak up, till she glanced down at Stephanie, causing the expression on her face to quickly change. "Stephanie!" she gasped, rapidly shooting up from her seat. "Sorry are you by any chance Michelle? her nanny?" she asked, as Michelle quickly nodded. "Mr Morris said I should bring the both of you up to his office right away when you arrive, I'm terribly sorry for my rudeness" she smiled nervously, before gathering up her files, placing them to the side and getting up to lead the way.
Michelle discreetly rolled her eyes away as she followed behind causing Stephanie to chuckle lightly. Seconds later they entered inside the elevator doors to lead them to the top floor. It wasn't like most elevators. It had white walls and looked extremely classy and was very well put together. It also had mirrors surrounding the walls, which could make it easy to lay your body across the entire width and length of it with extra space. David certainly had style and it was obvious that he had put a lot of thought and time into making sure his building inside and outside was aesthetically pleasing.
Finally the elevator doors opened, and the secretary cocked her head to the side, signalling for Michelle to follow. They strolled down the hall over to a huge white door. With the name 'David Morris' written in fancy gold letters.
"Mr Morris said I should leave you to knock" she smiled once more, before turning around to walk away with her heels clicking on the ground along the way.
Michelle stared back at her once she was out of sight before taking a deep breath and turning her head to look down at Stephanie. She wasn't sure why she was so nervous all of a sudden. As she lifted her hand about to knock, the door slowly opened, revealing David standing at a tall frame, with a half smirk on his face. "Afternoon Michelle, were you ever gonna knock? I have cameras out in my hallway just to let you know" he said pointing to the cameras as the top of the ceiling before looking back down at her, his smile never faltering.
