It was early afternoon and the Morris family were sited at a table outside in their backyard having lunch.
David and Jay sat across from each other whilst gazing at each other in a deameaning manor as Kim and Stephanie silently ate their food. It had been two days since David had unexpectedly kissed Michelle, and the high and heavy tension between him and Jay was very much noticeable and transparent. They never said anything in front of the others, but by the way they looked at each other; you instantly knew that something was wrong. It had always been like this with them but somehow it was getting worse each and every day, due to the fact that they both wanted the same girl and neither of them was willing to back off.
"Its almost 2 pm and Michelle hasn't come down today... I wonder what's going on" Kim spoke up, placing her knife and fork down before lifting her head up to look at her husband and son. If only she really knew what was going on.
Hearing the sound of her name was enough for the both of them to get fired up. This woman who they didn't even know existed a couple months ago had came and turned their whole world around. From the way she spoke, to the way she smiled, to the way she carried herself each and every day... she was simply extraordinary, and they couldn't help but fall for her. But why did they both have to fall in love? Why couldn't it have been just one? That way there wouldn't be so many complications and hostility growing.
Kim slowly placed her hand on David's shoulders, causing him to divert his gaze back to her. He knew he should feel guilty, after all he had cheated on his wife by kissing another woman, but he felt the complete opposite and if he got the chance to do it again he would.
I guess he was really selfish and a disgusting human being after all for thinking that way.
A short while later, Jay slowly stood up from his seat without bothering to make eye contact with any of them.
"Where are you going?" Kim questioned, but he briefly ignored her by walking off inside the living room.
David watched as he headed towards the front door, before shifting his eyes away and sighing a small sigh. His only son hated him so much that he couldn't even stand to sit across from him at a table. Maybe he should've tried his hardest to get over what he felt towards Michelle so Jay could have her, but it was almost as if his heart was so invested in her at that point that whenever he looked or thought about her, he wanted her all to himself, even though he realistically knew that there would never be a world where the two of them would ever end up together.
"I'll be right back" said David, placing a quick kiss on top of Stephanie's head before getting up to walk back inside.
He strolled over to the flight of stairs and quickly moved his feet up one at a time, whilst slipping his hands in his pockets. As he got to the top of the stairs, he then found himself standing outside Michelle's bedroom door seconds later, deciding whether to knock or not.
After that kiss, she had refused to speak to him let alone look at him for the past two days. It was almost as if he had stopped existing in her world, and it made him feel utterly terrible. Maybe he shouldn't have done it, maybe it was a mistake, but the slight second that she kissed him back before pulling away, made him think that it wasn't. It was never his intention to make things so suddenly awkward and uncomfortable between them, and the fact that she hadn't said anything about the kiss to anyone made him relieved. She could've easily ran and told Kim what he had done but she kept it to herself and pretended it never happened, she pretended so well that it almost felt like it never did.
After a couple minutes of debating with himself he finally found the courage to knock on her door, and as he heard the sound of her voice saying "Come in" from inside, he took a deep breath before pushing the door open and stepping inside.
