Kim slowly walked down the stairs as David shut his eyes and sighed before glancing over at Jay who pressed his back against the wall and ran his fingers through his hair before meeting his gaze. This was not how they had imagined things to go, and they had a feeling that things were only about to get worse, after all they expected this when they both fell for the same girl and were now about to face the consequences.
"Would someone tell me what the hell is going on?" Kim questioned hesitantly in a shaky breath. She gazed over at David with a heavy and furious stare as he avoided eye-contact with her to look somewhere else. "Tell me... tell me that I didn't just hear what I think I heard" she spoke, before turning her head back to look at Jay.
It was dead silent as the both of them remained quiet. Seconds later, it had began to rain outside which only made the situation they were in ten times worse. It felt as if the rain was slowly adding more fuel to the fire with each droplet that fell to the ground. The silence in the living room was deadly, the atmosphere joyless and gloomy, almost like a scene from a horror movie. A brief moment later, David rotated his head to glance over at Kim, and if looks could kill, he would've been dead the second he laid his eyes back on her.
"You heard right, mom" Jay spoke up in a low and quiet tone, shattering the silence between them. He pushed his back of the wall and slipped his hands in his pocket before taking a step closer to Kim.
"Jay, don't-
"What do you mean don't, she already heard everything!" he hissed, quickly cutting David of his sentence. "What do you want me to lie and say that we're both not in love with Michelle so you two could carry on with your fucked up lives?".
"Why can't you think before you say anything, why can't you think for once!" David groaned, before looking back at Kim, who stood frozen to the ground, almost as if she had just seen a ghost or witnessed something incredibly traumatising.
"This... This has to be a joke" Kim stammered. She reached for the pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the centre table and as she was about to light it, it quickly fell from her hands and onto the ground, due to her hands shaking rapidly. She stared down at the ground with a mix of rage and confusion before diverting her eyes back to David. Even when he had been caught there wasn't a single ounce of guiltiness evident on his face which only made her more angry. "You're telling me that the girls who looks after our daughter you have feelings for? and not only you but Jay too?!" she snapped, slowly raising her voice by the second.
David ran his fingers through his hair going to walk over to her, but before he could take a step, she quickly picked up the vase from the table and rapidly threw it over at the wall, causing it to shatter loudly into small and tiny pieces.
"Don't you fucking dare come near me you hear me! I don't wanna hear more about whatever is going on, I want you to fire her because if I see in this house agai or near Stephanie then you're really not gonna like the person I become, David!" she yelled as Jay watched overwhelmingly from a distance. It wasn't the first time he had seen his mother react so aggressively by breaking stuff in the house, but it was the first time he had seen her this angry.
"Kim, Kim would you stop it, Steph is upstairs asleep-
"Oh would you shut up you sleazy bastard!" she shouted, rapidly cutting him off once again. "Now you listen and listen carefully. I never wanna see you around her again. First thing in the morning you're gonna fire her right away and get her away as far from our family as possible, then call your lawyer and get him to write up a restraining order on her".
"A what? Kim would you please calm down for a moment" David began to shake his head, his voice was very low and calm. He had always been calm with her even when he felt like going off and losing control.
