It was the morning of the trip to Hawaii and Michelle was in her apartment packing the last of her luggage with the help of Natalie.
She threw some clothes into her suitcase and quickly zipped it up before going to take a sip of her coffee on the centre table. Hawaii was a place she never thought she would ever go to due to her poor upbringing as a child. There were nights where she would go to sleep without any dinner and wake up the next morning with still no food. At the tender age of 13, she had to get her first job to support her grandmother, but they still lived in poverty each and every day. She never would've thought she would ever get to see a mansion in real life and experience everything she's experienced so far with the Morris family. It was truly a dream come true. Good things like that didn't happen all the time, especially to those who had nothing in life to begin with.
"Why did you only pack bathing suits? why not bikinis?" Natalie questioned, glancing over at her suitcase before stuffing some potato chips in her mouth.
Michelle playfully rolled her eyes at her before going to sit on the sofa beside her. "Nat, I'm not like you who's comfortable with wearing bikinis whenever, I'm fine with my bathing suits" Michelle assured, nodding her head at her. "Besides who would wanna see all my stretch marks anyway?".
"Michelle you're beautiful, and I mean that" Natalie sighed, placing the potato chips on the table before shifting closer to her. "I would kill to have a figure like yours or have as much appeal as you. Don't listen to what anyone told you about your appearance in the past or present because you're gorgeous, both inside and out, and you're the most kind and honest person I've ever met" she smiled, whilst running her fingers through her dreadlocks causing a smile to slowly creep up on her lips.
Throughout the years, she had found it hard to believe in herself more and more due to all the knock-backs in life, and how people normally looked at her when she went out in public. She had always felt like an outcast all her life, like she didn't fit in. She was just the black girl that nobody ever looked at twice, which massively hindered her confidence.
Natalie smiled and pulled her in for a hug before placing a kiss on her cheek. "Have fun in Hawaii and make sure to text me every night so I'll know if you're okay or not" she chuckled, before slowly pulling away. "I still can't believe they own a private jet that you're gonna be flying on, these people are super rich".
"I promise, and I can't believe it too. I'll try not to freak out too much when I first see it" she replied, causing the both of them to laugh
As Natalie went back to eating her potato chips, Michelle narrowed her eyes over to her window to see a black jeep pulling up in front of her apartment, and her heart skipped her beat as she noticed it was one of David's cars. Without hesitation, she quickly shot up from the sofa and went to grab her luggage from across the living room. "They're here, Nat" she indicated briefly, and with that the two quickly gathered up the rest of her luggage before going to head over to the front door.
As they hurried out the door, David glanced at the window to see Michelle and he couldn't help but smile to himself. He watched as she laughed at something her friend had said before unbuckling his seat belt. He hadn't seen her laugh like that for a while. Taking one quick glance at Stephanie who sat in the backseat and Kim who sat in the passenger's seat, he slowly stepped out the car, before slowly walking over to Michelle. He thought that as soon as she saw him, she would rapidly look away just like she had done for the past couple days, but surprisingly she had sent him a warm smile, causing his heart to flutter. But even though he misses seeing her smile again, he couldn't forget the scene last night of her walking out of a bar with Jay. He didn't expect it to keep him up all night but it did. He was jealous but refused to admit it.
