*One year later*

A year can feel like such a short time, but that year felt like an eternity, simply because there were a lot of things needed to be forgotten about, for the sake of simply moving on and starting a new chapter. It was a year filled with new relationships, hidden feelings and most of all pain and regret.

Jay and Michelle sat in a car, whilst driving over to David's mansion. They had began dating after Michelle confessed she had felt the same way for him, and after spending a year travelling to different countries together, they had decided to move back to Oakland and buy a house. Their relationship wasn't perfect as they fought about silly things most of the time and disagreed on certain issues. Each and every day they learnt new things about each other, which only made them much more stronger.

Jay removed one hand of the steering wheel to place on Michelle's thigh before sending her a sly wink. She quickly inter-wined their hands together and placed a kiss on his before flashing him a wide grin, causing his heart to skip a beat. Even after all this time she still gave him butterflies and made him incredibly nervous.

"You know we could just turn right back around and go back home" Jay spoke, turning his full attention back at the road.

Michelle rolled her eyes away before speaking up. "It's your Dad's birthday, Jay, and we called and said we'd be coming" she said, whilst gently drawing circles on his palm. "Beside, you haven't seen him since last year".

"This isn't like a normal meet the family kinda thing, Michelle. Are you forgetting my dad was in love with you too and probably still is? I mean we fought over you, so its gonna be awkward" Jay sighed, before running his fingers through his hair, thinking back to everything that went down last year and how him and David's relationship had gotten worse, due to their affection and love towards Michelle.

"Baby that was a year ago okay, things have changed so stop worrying about that... I love you" she muttered the last bit, leaning over to stroke his hair with her other hand.

"I love you too..." he whispered, glancing back at her.

Even though Michelle had given him every reason not to worry, he still couldn't help but do so, and sometimes it even kept him up at night. He always wandered what would've happened if she had ended up with David and not him, and what drove her to choose him instead, due to the mutual feeling that David and Michelle both shared. Even though these were things constantly running through his mind, he still couldn't be more happier that he got to spend each and every day with her, and to continue building a life with her.

A while later, they pulled up inside the compound.

Michelle peered out the window to look up at the mansion as the memories of when she would come here everyday to take care of Stephanie flooded back to her. She smiled to herself, before pushing open the door to step out of, feeling a pit of anxiety in her stomach. She knew the reason why she had gotten so nervous all of a sudden, but she just couldn't show it no matter what.

Jay stepped out of the car and watched as Michelle continued to gaze around the mansion, almost as if it was her first time coming here. He went to speak up, but stopped, as his eyes narrowed over to Stephanie who ran out the front door and towards their direction. He smiled as she quickly jumped into Michelle's arms, before looking back over at the door to see if he could spot David anywhere.

"Oh Michelle I missed you so much, I can't believe you're here" Stephanie squealed, loudly, before burying her face in her shoulders.

"I missed you to baby, I bought you something" Michelle chuckled, squeezing onto her tightly. "You've gotten so tall, before you know it you'll be as tall as me or even taller" she laughed, placing her back down on the ground, before wrapping her arms her neck.
