➳Alaina's POV

Me and my parents ate dinner at Luke's house then headed home. Once I was home I took a quick shower then headed to bed.

------

The next day, my mum had to go

unexpectedly go into work today and my dad wasn't going to be home till later, so I was stuck at home, bored.

I decided to see call someone to hang out. Then I noticed the only person that I had to hang out was Luke, so I just called him.

"Hello?" Luke answered.

"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today."

Luke immediately answered, "Yeah, do you want to come over to my house or what?"

"You can choose." I answered while shrugging.

"I'll be there in 15 minutes." Luke said then hung up without me saying

goodbye.

➳Luke's POV

--------

I quickly grabbed my car keys and drove over to Alaina's.

I was so glad she called. I really wanted to hang out with her and maybe tell her how we were dating before the incident.

But I didn't want I rush her into things. Plus I don't even know if I should tell her about us dating, at all.

When I got to Alaina's house I walked straight in without knocking, it was just a habit since I used to always be here with her, before the incident.

I could hear Alaina humming while cooking something in the kitchen.

"Hey." I said, she jumped and dropped a pot of macaroni noodles.

"Luke, you scared the shit out of me! Why didn't you knock!?" Alaina bent down to clean up the noodles that are in the floor.

I walked over and helped, chuckling to myself, she always was easy to scare.

"Sorry, I was just in a rush to bring you to some place special."

Alaina looked up with a confused look, "What do you mean? I thought we were hanging out here?"

I shook my head no, as we finished cleaning up the noodles.

"Go get some shoes on and meet me in the car." I said, pushing her towards the stairs.

"Okay, okay I'm going." She said, then ran up the stairs.

--------

"So, are you going to tell me where we are going?" Alaina said from the passenger seat.

"Nope."

Alaina sighed in annoyance, she always has had a short temper.

I pulled up to the edges of the woods beside the park, it wasn't exactly in the park, but near it.

"Are we going to the park?" Alaina asked.

"Nope now c'mon we have some walking to do." We both got out of the car.

Alaina followed behind me into the woods.

I stopped to face Alaina, "Now close your eyes and I'm going to lead you the rest of the way." I sort of demanded, but not in a rude way.

"What? No, you could be some weird rapist for all I know. We might've been close before, but I don't even know your last name." Alaina said, crossing her hands over her chest.

"Hemmings." Was all that I said.

"What is Hemmings?" Alaina asked confused.

"That's my last name, now close your eyes."

Alaina rolled her eyes, jokingly, "You aren't giving up until I close my eyes, are you?" She asked.

I shook my head no. She then decided to close her eyes.

---------

I lead her towards the special place.

"We're here, you can open your eyes now." I said.

Alaina opened her eyes.

"Wait, I've seen this place before." She walked over towards the swing that was hanging off the treehouse.

Then she gasped, sitting down on the swing, she said, " This is the last place I remember before my memory blanks out."

I nodded my head yes, while pushing her on the swing, "I thought you might actually want to see it again in person. Maybe it will help you remember some things."

She looked around taking in everything around her.

"Wanna go look inside the treehouse?" I asked.

"Yes, please." She said, then rushed up towards the door of the treehouse.

I just followed behind.

----------

I walked into the treehouse to see Alaina looking around at everything.

The treehouse wasn't too big or too small, it was the perfect size for anybody.

"Remember anything?" I bit my lip.

"No." Alaina looked down.

She sat down in a chair, that was beside one of the windows.

"I'm sorry." Alaina whispered.

I walked over towards her.

"For what? Not being able to remember anything?" I asked, slightly confused.

"Yes, I feel so horrible. I wish I could remember everything. I wish I could remember growing up. I wish I could remember whatever we had. Even though I'm not sure what we had, I still want to remember it."

She was full on crying. My heart broke, she wouldn't have started crying if I hadn't bring her here and asked her to try and remember things.

"It's not your fault. If anything it's mine. I should've watched out for that damn car. I should've protected you , like I promised." I said, holding Alaina in my arms.

"Don't blame yourself, Luke. It wasn't anyone's fault. It could be worse." Alaina said

I just took a deep breath before I could break down in tears, I had to keep strong, for Alaina's sake.

----------

I continued to hold Alaina in my arms until she calmed down and stopped crying.

"Luke?"

Alaina looked up at me, staring deep into my eyes.

"What were we exactly? Before the accident and everything."

Finally the question I was waiting for.

It was time.
