➳ Alaina's POV
"Did they have it?" Alice asked me, once I returned from looking for The Great Gatsby.
"Yeah, it was in the back." I gave Alice the book.
"I went ahead and paid for it."
Alice shook her head no, "You can't pay for it. It's not you reading it."
I just shook my head no and pushed Alice out of the shop.
"Just think of it as a welcome gift." I insisted.
Alice finally gave in.
"So, what took you so long in the book shop?" Alice questioned me.
"Oh, I saw my old friend and we sorta exchanged numbers." I said, like it wasn't anything important.
"Was it a dude?" Alice smirked.
"Yeah, it was David. He was one of my close friends when I was younger." I informed Alice.
"Just a close friend?" Alice nudged my arm.
"Well, I had this small crush on him when we were younger."
"Oh get it girl! Is he cute?"
"Well, yeah. We're supposed to hang out later on."
Alice grabbed my arm. "Why didn't you tell me this before!?! We have to get you prepared!"
Alice then drug me by my arm.
"For one, you don't even know where you're going. Secondly, it's not like it's a date, so calm your shit." I laughed.
Alice slowed down.
"Not a date my ass. You totally have the hots for him. I can tell."
David was attractive, but I haven't talked to him since we were younger. He may have a girlfriend for all I know.
"I don't have the hots for David." I denied.
"Yeah, whatever. C'mon we have to get you ready!"
--------
Alice came to my house and helped me get ready to meet David.
I was wearing black jeans, like I always am. With my Arctic Monkeys shirt and black vans.
Alice tried to get me to dress up a little bit fancier, but I wanted to keep it casual.
After I was all ready, I walked Alice back to her house.
"Have fun on your date!" Alice called as I walked away from her house.
I just laughed and shook my head.
"You have a date?"
I screamed, not expecting someone to be near me.
I turned around to find Luke standing there.
"God, don't do that Luke! You scared the shit out of me!" I said, hitting him in his chest.
Luke chuckled, "I'm sorry, I didn't think that you would get scared."
I walked beside Luke.
"So, you didn't answer my question..." Luke nudged me.
"Oh, sorry I forgot. Anyways, no I don't have a date. I just saw one of my old friends earlier today and we decided to meet and catch up on everything."
Luke nodded his head okay.
"Do I know him?" He questioned.
Does Luke know David? Maybe I introduced him to David before and I just don't remember it?
"I'm not sure. His name's David."
Luke made a face like he was thinking.
"I think his name is familiar, but I'm not entirely sure."
Is it weird to be talking to your ex about some dude you sorta like and you find attractive? Also who you are going to meet for a not so sure date?
I actually feel bad now.
I mean Luke still loves me and he made that clear. I'm just not used to knowing that we used to date and didn't officially break up.
"Well, I have to go this way." Luke said, motioning towards the sidewalk across from where we currently were walking.
"Okay, I'll see you later." I said with a wave.
I then continued on my way to meet David.
