Gally: Builder's Commander (Part 1)

Thomas's POV;

"Oi Greenie, tell Treetrunk to get back to shucking work. No pouting around," a voice rang out. Thomas and Gally both stopped their argument for a moment to see where the voice was coming from. Of course, Gally knew exactly where it was coming from, but he still wanted to look. Thomas stared wide eyed, surprised to see the only girl in the glade. She had gingery-blonde hair pulled in a plaited Mohawk and bun, and she had fierce khaki green eyes. She wore long, dark jeans and a green tank top, which obviously showed her considerable chest. She was short, and curvy, with wide hips. And though she looked quite small compared to the boys she still had two tree stumps slung over her shoulder like they were a handbag.

Gally growled audibly, and Thomas frowned. He knew Gally hated him, but the way he looked at the girl was different. Like he was growling in longing, rather than aggression. Gally shrugged heavily, before walking quickly back towards the builders tables. Thomas watched him quickly pick up an axe and start working, though he glanced once or twice at the girl again.

Thomas turned to her to ask her something, but she was already walking away to another part of the glade, and she didn't look in the mood for answering questions.

A hand suddenly grasped his shoulder and he jumped. His friend Newt was standing behind him, and he could see Chuck a few paces away. "That's Ward," Newt explained, nodding after the girl, "She's the second-in-command with me. She came here a month before Gally did," he explained. Thomas nodded. Chuck, meanwhile, knew that Thomas still wasn't getting the whole picture.
