Chapter 16
"Mom, I don't know what to do, it's not that I don't want to be friends or friendly with Bridget and Jody and Heather because I do, it's just I've been talking and hanging around with Kimberly and Maggie and Sophie lately. They've been asking me to hang with them at lunch and stuff. But I don't want to hurt Bridget's and her friend's feelings either," I said.
"Well you know now honey that Bridget and her friends don't make good decisions, and you don't like that, and quite honestly I think you should make friends with kids that are more like you, with goals and aspirations and the desire to do things with their lives. I'm not saying don't be friends with Bridget, and her friends your still in a lot of classes together with them, be civil and cordial, and talk to them in between classes they could solely be your school friends. Your real friends are the friends you hang out with after school and talk to on the phone those kinds of friends could be the girls I interviewed. Is any of what I'm saying making sense to you?" asked mom taking a sip of her coffee that next morning at the kitchen table, I had just walked in the door from the gym and had showered by the time mom got out of bed that morning. "Yes, mom it does make sense to me, thanks. I love our talks." I said. "It's getting late you better get yourself to school, I will see you later at the shop this afternoon." Mom had said. "Bye, mom," I said hugging her and then I headed out the door and off to school.
