(Loki)
I can honestly say that I am at a loss for words.
After everything I've done on this planet and she doesn't even know me as more than Thor's brother. It's quite aggravating. I worked hard on that destruction.
But then I remember that she has been hidden away from the world in a basement prison for the last 7 years.
I suppose some things can be excused.
I watch her as she looks nervously out the window. Millions of thoughts are obviously running through her head. I want her to fear me, but at the same time I don't. I want her to respect me, but I don't want her to lose her edge. I want her to be a warrior, a leader, but I still want her to be a free woman.
I close my eyes. There are too many conflicting emotions that I need to figure out. For all I know this girl will be useless to me. And what was that about her father? What does her father have anything to do with this?
"Thank you." she whispers.
"What?" I stare at her sad face.
"I said thank you. For getting me out of there." She didn't look at me. "I owe you everything."
I didn't know what to say. She did owe me a lot, but even if she didn't, she still belonged to me, would still do as I commanded.
I felt the car stop. "We walk from here." I got out of the car and held out my hand for her to take. I couldn't see her face, and she didn't move for a moment, but eventually she took my hand lightly and stepped out of the car.
She squinted as the bright sun hit her face. She held on to my hand gingerly, as if I might harm her, and she still wouldn't look at me.
I kept ahold of her hand as I walked up to the driver, who had the window down, waiting for my instructions. I threw a very large roll of cash at him. "Turn around and go back the way we came. You never saw us, or anyone who looked remotely like us, and you've never been here before." I motioned to the desert land behind me. He nodded his head vigorously, and once I had stepped back from the vehicle, the driver sped off.
At some point, Anna had slipped her hand away from mine. I spun around to see her back towards me. She looked as if she were having trouble breathing. Again.
I hurried to her side. When she saw me she took a few steps away and held her hand out to me in a 'stop' gesture. "No. It's okay. I'm fine, really. Just needed to catch my breath a moment. It's been a while since I've inhaled real air." She chuckled to herself, and I kept my distance, watching her.
After a few minutes I asked her if she was ready. She reluctantly nodded her head. "Where are we going. Won't you tell me? Please I just want to know where you're taking me." She pleaded.
I groaned. "Stop with the begging. It makes me sick." I rubbed my face, and looked at her through my hands. I walked up to her, so that I was only about a foot away from her. I, at 6'2", was a good 9 inches taller than her, so I had to look down, but she was staring at my chest.
I took her chin in my hand and made her look at me. She didn't look afraid, only worried. As if she were entering one experiment chamber and going to another. "I'm not going to harm you. As long as you cooperate, I promise you that." But she still didn't look convinced.
She shook her head out of my grasp and hugged herself. "But where are we going?" She sounded on the verge of tears.
I don't know why the sound of her broken voice shattered my heart. "Home." I told her. And then I started walking.
