(Loki)

I didn't have to wait on her long.

Soon, she came out of the washroom, dressed in the green dress I had brought her. It hugged her body in all the right places. I had to fight to keep my breath steady so that blood didn't rush back into my pale face.

She looked at me sheepishly, as if she wasn't quite sure what to do next. I motioned for her to follow me. I walked ahead of her until she eventually jogged to catch up and walk by my side.

"Where were you this morning? You were gone when I woke up." She said softly. We were in one of the many enormous, desolate halls. Almost any sound reverberated of its walls.

I stopped, making her have to back track, looking at me in surprised confusion. "Before Borin attacked you, the physician had come up with a theory. About you. About us."

Her eyebrows scrunched together. "You mean the breathing problems I had?" I nodded. "That doesn't happen anymore."

She was right.

I hadn't realized it until she said it, but she was right. We had touched quite frequently and she had not hand another episode. Odd.

"Hm." I thought. "Well, either way, his theory was that you might have been some long ago demon experiment created by a Frost-giant, but he said that that baby had been killed. Said that bad events would begin to surface. I didn't quite understand it all." I rubbed my face.

"What?" She looked utterly confused.

"Exactly." I paused. "Anyway, I need to talk to him. You need to talk to him. We need answers. There's something that's not right here."

"What happened to Borin?" she suddenly asked.

Surprised, it took me a moment to answer. "I went to see him in the infirmiry, he was just barely alive, thanks to you. I moved him to the solitary cell. I'll let him stew there for a while before I do anything more."

She nodded her head in understanding.

And then we heard shouting.

I hurried to the physician's quarters, which were close by, and seemed to be the source of the fight. Anna followed as best as she could behind me.

When we finally reached the room, I stopped in my tracks, the sight before me such as shock that I didn't know what to do. Anna ran into my back, I put a hand behind me to steady her. Then, I grabbed her hand and pulled me into the tight space that was meant to hold herbs, but only held a couple of brooms. I wanted to listen, but not be seen. If we stood facing each other, our backs as far back as they could go, there were only a few inches between us.

Good thing she couldn't see my face.

"We have to tell him! Tell both of them!" A female's voice.

"No. No we do not! And we should not!" the physician's.

"They have to know! If they don't know, how are they supposed to fix anything? To put wrongs back to rights?"

"There's nothing to fix! Only things to stop!"

"Oh, and you ending the girl's life worked so well last time."

"She was going to die anyway!"

"Except she didn't! And you know exactly what that means."

I decided to step out of my hiding space at this point. Anna hid behind me, not wanting to make anyone mad that she was there.

"No. I don't know what it means, but I would love it if you enlightened me, Lady Maleah.

The pair of them, Lady Maleah and the physician, couldn't have looked more guilty.

At some point, Anna had slipped her hand in mine and was standing to my side, ever so slightly behind me.

"Loki, darling."

"Don't lie to me Maly."

She looked at me. Just stared.

"You want to tell me so bad what's going on here, then please, be my guest, because if something terrible is about to happen, I'd like to try and stop it before it starts." I said sternly.

"Oh, my dear." She took a few steps towards us. "It has already started."
