(Loki)

I fully expected to be bombarded by Frost-giants.

And I wasn't wrong.

I immediately held up my hands in surrender as dozens of Frost-giants surrouned me, their red eyes glowing, ice-weapons extended.

"I wish to see King Laufey." I said carefully. "I am here to make a deal."

I waited as they eyed me suspiciously.

"Put your weapons down." I heard a voice say.

And then Laufey stepped into view.

"Son." He stepped closer to me. "You killed me." He said with a snarl.

"Yes. Yes, I know. And I am very, truly, sorry about that. I was sort of going through a meltdown." I smiled. And quickly said, "I am unarmed, as you can see." I hadn't worn more than a simple long sleeve shirt and a plain pair of pants. I really was unarmed. "I wish to speak with you."

"Yes. You want to make a deal. But what could you possibly offer me that is worth more to me than your death?"

"Now, now, Father. Do not take me for a fool. What I have in mind will very much interest you. And you can have me in the end. Just hear me out."

"Speak."

I put my hands down. "I need your help." That made him raise his eyebrows. "There is an enemy out there that is more evil than the pair of us combined." He squinted his eyes at me. "This enemy took my-" What did I call Anna. My girlfriend? No. That was such a mortal term. We were not married, so she was not my wife. My lover? No, we had never actually lain together, I realized regretfully.

"Your what?" Laufey said angrily.

"My Soulmate." The words tumbled out, sounding ridiculous as they landed on my lips. Laughter erupted around me. I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious." I realized Laufey wasn't laughing.

"You know what I speak of, I know you do. Yes, I found Odin's child, before I knew anything about the whole ordeal. I know everything. And I know how to break the spell."

The group had grown silent.

"Leave us." Laufey didn't take his eyes off of mine. The group slowly dissipated, leaving me alone with my biological father. "No one knows how to break the spell."

"I have my sources."

"Then please tell."

"I need your help getting her back, keeping her safe. I want her on the throne of Asgard, never to be touched. Asgard and Jotunheim will be allies under her rule. She is pretty much your daughter-in-law, after all." He snarled at me. "If you kill me, in front of both of our mothers, the spell will be broken. You get my death as long as I get her safety. Nothing will happen to you. You go on ruling your frozen kingdom and you get your revenge."

"I don't see what you get out of this deal." Laufey eyed me suspiciously.

"Her life." I looked down at my shoes. "That's all I want." He tilted his head at me.

"You've gone soft." He shook his head, chuckling. "I knew I did something right when I left you to die."

"No. I am not going soft." I don't know why I was arguing with him. I didn't need his approval. "I've just screwed up too many times. I've had my chance, and I've blown it. I'm giving my life for hers."

He looked at me thoughtfully. "No tricks, boy."

"None. I'm all out of tricks. This is me playing my last card."

"And you know who the mothers are?"

"I do. And I will bring them with me."

"Where is this happening?"

"On Asgard, if you don't mind. I'd like to die there. It's my home."

"If you trick me, one misstep, I will not hesitate to kill the girl."

"Understood."

"When do we start?"

I remember uttering those same words when Thor came to me for help just a few short years ago, as I lay in my cell, beat-up and bloody by my own doing over our mother's murder.

"Tomorrow."
