The rest of the weekend was painful for Wei Zhou. There was no way for him to describe it. With his mom gone, the weekend was full of beatings and bruises. His body was having trouble holding up. After all the events this past week, he looked like he had been destroyed. Large blue bags formed under his eyes from the nightmares and he was losing weight by the day.
He wished he could tell Jing Yu and let him be his saviour, carrying him away from all his trouble and once and for all, destroying the monsters that chased after him... like in all those fairytales. He sighed, this wasn't a fairytale, at least, not the kind of fairytale childrens read. For the monsters in those books are far less frightening than real life.
Jing Yu didn't text him all weekend. He felt disappointed. Wei Zhou hoped he hadn't hurt Jing Yu's feelings when he told him he didn't need his protection. He hoped Jing Yu didn't believe his words. He hoped Jing Yu saw through his lies, because in reality, he needed his protection desperately.
Monday morning came around and Wei Zhou got up early so he could walk his way to school. He didn't like riding the bus, for it means that he will be facing more monsters which he think he couldn't handle this time. The weather was nice. He was greeted by the cold morning air so breathed it deeply, filling his lungs with it. When he was almost at school, Feng drove by with his car, giving him a smirk as he slowed down.
"Your mom wouldn't like you walking this far on your own. She's getting back tonight and I know you wouldn't want to disappoint him, right? Let me drive you for the rest of the way."
Wei Zhou shake his head as a no, because it was just a fake gesture coming from a monster.
"Wei Zhou, now!" Feng's voice was low yet Wei Zhou sense danger coming from it.
The tone of Feng's voice snap him out of reality. If he didn't listen to him, they would hurt his mom. Wei Zhou couldn't risk that. He couldn't risk watching the only person he truly love being destroyed. He walked slowly towards Feng's car and get in. As soon as he is seated, Feng grabbed his hair and spat on his face. Wei Zhou didn't have the energy to clean it off. He was completely drained and destroyed. He had been through too much.
"You are disgusting!" Feng said, turning back to the road and drive again.
When they reached the school, Wei Zhou hopped out quickly, practically running towards the building, holding back his tears. Every inch if his body hurts and he really wanted to cry.
"Wei Zhou," someone breathed into his ear and he wasn't afraid. There was only one person who dared talk to him in this whole school, Jing Yu.
"It's worse... the bruises." Jing Yu whispered and he dragged Wei Zhou to the garden.
"It's the same," Wei Zhou replied, not minding how close they were seating at the moment.
"Mmm.." Jing Yu hummed, closing his eyes and gently tracing his fingertips over Wei Zhou's hands, arms then face. Carefully studying the cuts and bruises and when their eyes met, Wei Zhou's heart pounds again.
