"Do you want to know why I named this place Oren Bar?"
Tito Diego's voice broke the soft hum of music inside the bar. Lorenzo turned to him, curious.
"Why, Tito?" he asked.
Tito Diego didn't answer right away. Instead, his gaze slowly drifted toward Annys who was on stage, her fingers gracefully moving across the piano keys while she sang.
A small smile formed on his lips.
"Because of Annys."
Lorenzo blinked. "Talaga? Bakit po?"
Tito Diego let out a quiet breath, as if preparing to open a memory he had kept sealed for years.
"Alam mo naman siguro na alcoholic ako, diba?" he asked.
Lorenzo nodded.
"And you also know that's the reason why Rebecca left me."
There was no need for confirmation. Everyone knew that story.
Rebecca is his wife. Iniwan nalang sila nito na parang bula.
No last words.
No last hugs.
No last kisses.
No last goodbyes.
Lorenzo had heard it before from Annys herself.
"She told me," Lorenzo said softly. And Tito Diego nodded again.
"When she left me, I decided to end my life."
Lorenzo stiffened slightly.
"Nasa kwarto ako noon... hawak ko na ang kutsilyo. Buong buo na ang loob ko."
He paused, eyes still fixed on Annys.
"But then... Annys knocked."
That moment changed everything.
"She stopped me," Tito Diego continued. "Just like that. I changed my mind in an instant."
Lorenzo looked at Annys with a different kind of understanding.
So that's how much she mattered.
"So she's the reason you chose to live," Lorenzo said.
Tito Diego nodded.
"And do you know why she knocked that day?" he added with a faint smile. Umiling si Lorenzo dahil don.
