Chapter 38:
Harry's POV
I've never stood in the presence of a goddess before but let me tell you a thing about what it's like. The aurora Hecate gave off was like nothing I've felt before, so powerful and full of magic. The demigods explained how gods and goddess can choose to appear in human form or godly form and I'm very glad that Hecate chose human form. I feel like an 80 foot giant would be just a tad intimidating.
Hecate studied Percy for a moment and then spoke. "I'm surprised of your strength Percy Jackson. The other gods told me of you but I had no idea. You're the first to pass that test which means you got my attention and I must ask why you came seeking me."
"Thank you." Percy says bowing a little. I guess today he's choosing to be respectful of the goddess so we can receive her help. "Roman and Greek demigods have been going missing and we suspect they are being brainwashed by Voldemort and Kronos to fight against the gods and wizards." He explains this and Hecate is silent for a moment.
She purses her lips and then says. "As much as I would love to help you there's not much I can do."
"What? Why?" Annabeth speaks up looking annoyed which I understand. We travelled all the way here for her to tell us she can't help.
"I have a way to help." She pulls out a silver chain necklace with a purple stone hanging from it. "but sadly it must be used within 24 hours of receiving it and the only one other than myself who can use it is back at your little camp."
"We can make it back in time. Just give it to us and tell us who this person is." I say pleadingly. This is so important we don't have time to waste.
"The girl is a magical being, very strong but looks vulnerable." Hecate tosses the necklace to Percy who catches it swiftly and shoves it in his pocket where he keeps Riptide. "Good luck."
As we turn to leave Hecate says one more thing. "Oh and don't forget Ravens are more powerful than they may seem."
With that last piece of advice we make our way back to the end of the island. Deciding walking is to slow and seeing as we're on a tight schedule Hermione apparates us back to the Argo II and Leo sets sail.
---------------------------
Annabeth's POV:
"So we need to be thinking about who the person is that can use the necklace." I say sitting with the others at the dining table. "We don't have much time."
"Its a wizard because Hecate said she's magical." Harry says writing down the facts we know.
"Vulnerable but strong?" Hermione questions. "The only wizard at camp is Lily, but I'm not sure how strong she it." (If you don't remember Lily she's from Hogwarts, Nico befriended her)
"Lily is very strong." Nico jumps in. "And remember what Hecate said, Ravens are powerful? Lily is from the Ravenclaw house."
"So we just have to get the necklace to Lily in under 24 hours, piece of cake." I say.
I should have known better though, nothing is easy for us. After only two hours being off the island a storm hits, it's so strong we have to stop the ship for an hour and then the worst happens.
While sword fighting on the top deck Jason pushed Percy back against the railing and the necklace fell out of his pocket.
Jason tried to catch it by flying down but he couldn't and now we've been stopped for another hour trying to figure out how to find it.
"Hazel come with me." Percy says suddenly breaking our silent thoughts.
"What?" Hazel asks confused.
"I can go down into the water, create a bubble for you to breathe, and then you can detect the necklace." Percy explains and we all nod.
Jason carries them to the water safely and then joins us on the ship again. Gods I hope this works.
I watch Percy create a bubble around Hazel's head and I remember our first kiss underwater and smile. I hope he knows what he's doing, we don't have time to waste.
Percy goes underwater and we all hold our breaths waiting.
--------------------------
Percy's POV:
My plan was simple and easy. I was hoping Hazel could just will the necklace to the surface but I guess it was protected with magic cause it didn't work so she had to describe where it was and I had to go under and find it.
I swam past fish, coral, seaweed, rocks, and even a shark before I spotted it near a big rock.
I tried to grab it but it's chain got caught under the rock somehow. I pull out Riptide and uncap it.
I wedge my sword under the rock and manage to lift the rock a few inches so I can get the necklace and swim up to the surface. I place the necklace around my neck and will the water to carry us up to the Argo II.
After wasting so much time I instruct Leo to set the ship in the water and I use my powers to have the water push us while Jason make the wind blow us.
We're drawing closer to camp and the sun is begining to set. We're so close we better make it.
Thankfully we arrive at Camp Half-Blood with two hours left. Time really flew by.
We all jump off the ship and run around camp in search of Lily.
"Chiron where's Lily?!" I ask out of breath.
"She's at the Roman camp." Chiron tells me and I groan. I run to find the others and we quickly go through the portal connected to Camp Jupiter and again the search begins.
We quickly find her showing a couple of young campers a few simple spells. They chatter excitedly and ask her questions about the wizard world which she answers with a smile.
I grab her arm and drag her away from them.
"Hey!" She protests and yanks her arm free.
"Sorry Lily but this is important and it can't wait." I say.
"I'm listening." She nods signally me to continue.
I explain our quest to her quickly and go into a bit more detail about what Hecate said and her eyes go wide.
"I can't possibly be the one." She says flustered.
"Please just try." Nico says urging her on.
I hand him the necklace and he places it around her neck.
It begins to the glow, the purple become very bright and we all shield our eyes away.
Lily's voice come's out strong and clear, "επιστρέψει το αθώο και δωρεάν τα μυαλά." I quickly translate the Greek to English. She said, "Return the innocent and free the minds." How she knows Greek or how she knew what to say I have no idea but it must have worked because suddenly the purple dims and there's a bunch of POPs. Dozen's of campers are appearing out of thin air looking dazed and confused.
"You did it!' Ginny shouts and hugs Lily. "How'd you know what to say?"
"I have no idea, it just popped into my head so I said it." Lily laughs and shakes her head. "This is crazy, I've always been so ordinary, what makes me so strong and special."
"Trust me we've been wondering the same thing about Harry since we were eleven." Ron says and Harry rolls his eyes and shoves his shoulder laughing.
"Lets get back to Camp Half-Blood and help Chiron with all the confused demigods." Annabeth says and we all nod. The Romans stay here to help the Roman demigods and the Greek demigods and wizards head back to Camp Half-Blood
Turns out a bunch of new demigods showed up during this whole thing so it was mine and Annabeths job to explain everything to them. It's getting easier to explain this crazy life that I've learned to loved.
Of course we still have something huge stirring but for now all we can do is rest and wait.
