Betrayal water curses; heartbreak.

Chapter 37.

Percy's POV:

I couldn't stop picturing the look of agony and pain on my mothers face as the demigod killed her. It's such a cruel way to die and I will do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't happen.

This 'test' is designed to make me feel weak and defeated but I'm not gonna give in and let this magic win. I'm gonna make it through to the and save the missing demigods and the camps.

I grit my teeth, determined that no matter who I watch die next I won't give in.

Right after I set my mind to it the next 'pop' comes bringing yet another friend of mine; Leo Valdez.

I can't imagine how he'll die. Correction, I don't want to imagine it. He's so carefree and innocent, he doesn't deserve this. None of them do.

Coming from my thoughts my eyes find Leo. He's outside near a lake, the lake at Camp Half-Blood.

He's shirtless and in swim trunks and judging by the smirk on his face he's trying to show off for the ladies.

He runs into the water with a smile on his face. He seems so happy.

I watch him dive underwater and come back up laughing. Suddenly he begins to panic. He thrashes in the water and tries to swim back to shore only to be pulled under again.

He's drowning.

I should be able to control the water and save him. Why won't the water let me control it? I'm the son the Poseidon, water is my home. If I cant even save my friend from some water I really must be pathetic.

Leo slowly sinks under again and his thrashing stops completely. I few bubbled bob to the surface and then it's still like nothing ever happened.

The campers go back to what they were doing before hand and I'm the only one crying for Leo.

Leo's POV

I have to admit, it was kind of cool seeing how I might die. Now I know to avoid water when Percy isn't around.

After the water at camp dissapears I'm blinded by brilliant flashes of light coming from all directions. Harry appears and so does that evil bald wizard they told us about, Voldemort.

Harry fires a spell and ducks just in time as a green spell hits the wall right where his head had been moments before. Hermione nexts to me gasps and the real Harry reaches for his wand.

"It's not real Harry." Hermione whispers to him so he calms down. After he relaxes I turn my attention back to the other Harry.

He's on the ground seemingly unconciuos. His wand is a good foot away from him and Voldemort is walking towards him laughing evilly. His cold laughter causses me to shiver.

It's over quickly. Voldemort shouts a spell that fires a green light straight at Harry's heart. Harry screams and writhes in pain before he goes completrly still.

"I thought that curse couldn't kill you?" Ron says looking at the real Harry.

"When I destroyed all the horcruxes it destroyed the piece inside me so I can be killed by it now." Harry says and I just stand there confused, I have no idea what any of what he just said means.

Wizards are weird.

Jason's POV

After seeing Harry 'die' I realize it has to be almost over. Next comes Piper and i really don't want to watch it.

It starts off with Piper and me holding hands. Piper smiles at me and says something. The other me lets go of her hand and takes a step away from her.

"Piper, I could do this anymore." Jason #2 says.

"Do what?" Piper asks confused. Her eyes are wide and innocent looking.

"I can't pretend to love you anymore, I love someone else." He says his voice full of menace. "You're a joke to be with. I only dated you to make someone else jealous and it worked so I don't need you anymore."

Piper shakes her head furiuosly. "No! Jason you're lying! Tell me you're lying!" She yells at him with tears streaming down her face.

"Goodbye." He says and then he turns and wlks away. I'm stunned. I love Piper, I would never use her and I'll never break up with her. I look at the real her and she's looking back at me.

"It's not true." I say. "I love you." She smiles and nods. I take her hand and kiss her cheek before looking back at the fake Piper.

She's now standing on a cliff sobbing and saying she loves me. She glances over her shoulder at Percy once and then she lets herself fall from the cliff. Suicide.

"No!" Me and Percy scream at the same time. Percy fights his invisible restraint while I hug the real Piper tight against my chest. I'll never let her go.

Percy's POV

After Piper leaves I about lose it when Annabeth appears. This is something I've been dreading since the begining.

Me and Annabeth are fighting monsters back to back like old times and it's going good, only a few monsters remain. That's when it happens.

Annabeth cries out in pain and crumples to the floor. I see she got bit by something and I can see the poison in her viens.

"Percy, the antidote, it's in your pocket." She cries looking at me. I nod and reach for it but before I can give it to her a monster hits her and she falls. That's when I realize the cliff.

She screams and hangs on to the edge and in my hurry to save her I spill all the antidate.

"Annabeth!" I yell running to her. I land on my knees and reach for her. That's when I notice it isn't just a cliff, it's Tarturus.

"Percy let me go." She says with tears in her eyes. "I'm going to die anyways, the poison is spreading." As much as I hate it I know she's right, she's growing weaker byt the minute.

"I can't." I say also crying.

"You have to." She says and yanks one hand aaway so she's hanging by one hand now. "I love you Percy." With tears streaming down her face she allows herself to fall.

"No!" I scream. I cry uncontrollably now and back away from the edge.

If i can't be alive with Annabeth than I'll be dead with her.

With that final thought I let the monster destroy me.

Still Percy's POV

After Annabeth's death and sob into my knees and I don't even notice the bounds disapear and the walls crumble away.

My friends run over to me and ask my if I'm ok. I shake my head no and continue crying.

"Percy look at me." Annabeth says. I do as she intructs. "We're all ok and so are you. We're going to finish this quest and then go home." I nod silently and wipe my tears away.

"Well done demigod." A voice says and then there's a flash of light and before us stands Hecate herself.
