chapter twelve.

I watch as Percy jumps forward and slashes with Riptide. Kelli screams and turns to dust. I notice Tammi backing away with wide eyes trying to go unnoticed. I race forward and meet her. "Not so fast." I say smirking. She turns to flee but i'm faster. I stab her in the chest with my dagger and watch her disintegrate.

I turn around and see Percy sitting on the ground looking around. In his eyes he looks lost, worried, and confused. I rush over to him and sit beside him in the grass.

"Percy what's wrong?" I ask tentatively resting my hand on his shoulder.

"Promise me you'll never give up, no matter what." He says still looking straight ahead.

"Percy why would I ever give up?" I ask confused, my mind full of worry.

"Please Annabeth just promise."

"Ok. Percy I promise that no matter what I will never give up." I say. Finally he looks at me and smiles slightly.

"Thank you." He says quietly. I nod and notice for the first time how quiet is is. I look up and see everyone starring at us in wonder and amazment. Our demigod friends still tense but looking at me and Percy with eyes full of worry.

"Why don't you guys go to the grand hall for lunch me and Percy will meet you there." I say. When Thalia tries to protests I glare at her until she sighs and leads everyone away.

I wait till me and Percy are completely alone before I talk. "Percy what happened? What will never happen?" I ask, my head swimming with questions.

"Kelli showed me what she says is my future if I don't join them." He pauses and looks at the ground. I wait patently and finally he continues. "She showed me me and you fighting Kronos and who I believe is the dark lord. They teamed up to over throw Olympus and the wizards. They were winning and finally we were trapped and outnumbered." He stops and takes a deep breath.

"Take your time." I say quietly.

"We gave up. We let them kill us and win the war. For once we lost." He says looking down.

"Percy we will never let them win. We will never give up. Don't let what that demon said get to you Percy none of its true, she just wants you to join her." I say, my words full of meaning. What I said us true, I will never give up.

Percy finally nods and stands up. "Lets go eat." He says helping me up. We walk to the grand hall in silence. When we enter there's all kinda of whispering towards us, I guess word got around about what happened.

Despite what Annabeth said the vision that Kelli showed me kept replaying in my head, her words were still ringing in my ears.

"You won't be a hero much longer." She said before I liked her. She also mentioned I wouldn't be able to pass up this offer.

What if she's right? Sure I passed up the offer of immortality so I could stay with Annabeth and my friends but would I be able to pass up the chance to save my friends? Loyalty is my fatal flaw so I would do anything to save the ones I love but would I go to Kronos' side?

Immediantly after thinking it I shake the thought from my head. I would never turn against Olympus. I could save my friends some other way.

"Percy?" I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Annabeth's voice. "Lets go." She says tugging on my arm. I look around to see we're standing in the entrance to the grand hall, everyone is whispering towards us.

When I was thinking I must have stopped walking. I wonder how long we've been standing here. I shrug it off and follow Annabeth to our friends at the Gryffindor table.

"Percy are you ok?" Thalia asks concerned. I nod and start eating
