Twenty seventh part

"You can decide" he said.
"Subway, you know I love subway"
"I do. Should I drive?"
"Sure" we got into his car. He drove to the closest subway. We bought our sandwiches but just as we were about to sit down he got a text.
"I'm so sorry, I have to go back to the office. I have some paperwork I have to get done"
"No problem, I'll come with you. As long as you don't mind"
"I don't, some company would be great" we drove back to his office. We walked inside and he sat down behind his desk. He started writing things on some papers and I sat down on the chair across from him. I ate my sandwich while watching him work.
"I'm so sorry about this. I really wanted to go to lunch with you"
"It's okay, I had nothing to do today anyway"
"Where's Archie?"
"At his house packing up some boxes"
"He has a house? No shit that you chose him over me" Jacob said and laughed. I smiled back at him. Then I got more serious.
"I really am sorry for how it all turned out"
"Don't worry, I'm good just being your friend"
"So we're friends now?"
"We could be, if you want to"
"I want to. We were friends before all of this happens. We maybe can't go back to exactly that, but we can be friends again"
"So, when are you moving into his house?" he said and smiled at me.
"After college" I said smiling.
"Wow, you really do love him"
"I do. He's just always there for me no matter what he's going through"
"He sounds amazing. Maybe I can meet him for real sometime"
"Yeah, maybe. But definitely not yet"
"He's not okay with us being friends?"
"First of all, he doesn't know we're friends. Second, I can be friends with whoever I want to. But that doesn't mean he have to like all of my friends. If I introduce you know he will probably not be happy"
"You don't think he'll like me? I'm amazing"
"I know you are, there's just a risk he won't think that"
"Well I will do as you say"
"Thank you. Now finish writing those papers"

We sat there for a few more hours. We talked about everything and nothing while he continued working.
"It's getting late, I should get going before Archie starts wondering where I am"
"Sure. Bye Veronica"
"Bye Jacob" I walked out a went home. I had no idea what we would be doing so I just put on a navy blue dress that looked both dressed up and dressed down. Soon I got a text from Archie saying he was downstairs. I walked down and when I got out he walked up to me and gave me a kiss.
"You look beautiful"
"Thank you" we got into the car and started driving.
"Where are we going?"
"I can't tell you that. You just have to wait and see"
We soon got to this really beautiful house. He walked me to the backyard where a picnic was setup next to a pool.
"Archie, this is so beautiful. Is this your house?"
"Yeah. It doesn't really look like me, does it?"
"No, it doesn't. But I love it" we sat down on the blanket. He had bought chocolate covered strawberries, pizza and some other fruit and candies. We ate in silence.
"So what did you do today while I was here unpacking boxes?"
"I visited my dad"
"How did that go?"
"Good, we talked about going out to dinner"
"You and him?"
"And you"
"Sure, just tell me when and I'll be there" technically I didn't lie. I did visit my dad, I just wasn't sure if I wanted to tell him about Jacob.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Of course, you can tell me anything"
"I'm just scared you'll get mad"
"Ronnie, what's wrong? You're scaring me"
"Nothing's wrong, just... After I had visited my dad I ran into Jacob"
"What's so bad about that? You two broke up"
"I know, but we also had lunch. And after that I was in his office and we talked for hours" I saw that he looked a little bit sad, not mad, which made me sorta happy but also sorta sad.
"I have to admit that it makes me a little bit jealous, but I trust you. So I don't believe you would cheat on me with him"
"I won't, we're just friends. He actually wanted to meet you"
"Really?"
"Yeah, he thinks you seem like a nice guy"
"I know I said that I was okay with you two being friends, but I'm not that okay"
"It's fine. But are you sure you're okay with us hanging out?"
"Of course, I'm just happy you told me. In fact..." he stood up and got something from his jacket that was laying on a chair. He walked back over to me and sat down. I saw that it was a little black box.
"Before you get your hopes up, this is not me proposing to you. This is me telling you I love you and I do wanna spend the rest of my life with you. And someday I wanna propose to you. But for now I wanna give you this ring as proof that I love you" he opened the box and inside was a beautiful little silver ring. It had nothing on it except a few small stones.
"It's so beautiful Archie"
"It's not much-"
"It doesn't have to be much, I love you Archie" I leaned up and kissed him. I didn't care if we were supposed to take it slow. He took the ring and placed it in my left middle finger.
"Why don't you put it on my ring finger?"
"Cause your future wedding ring needs some space" I smiled at him and kissed him again. Then I stood up and started walking towards the house.
"Where are you going?"
"Come here" I said and he stood up and walked over to me. When he stood in front of me and looked more handsome than ever I pushed him into the pool.
"Ronnie!" he said before his head went under water. He came up from under the water.
"Haha, really funny" I was dying laughing.
"I actually think it was hilarious" I said before taking off my shoes and jumping into the pool with him. He pulled me into a hug and kissed me.
"This could be our life. You and me living in this house, eventually with kids. If you want it to be, this will be our future" I hadn't been sure before, but in that moment I was sure.
"I want this to be our future, I wanna build a future with you Archie Andrews" I said and he pulled me into a kiss.
