I woke up with no sweat, no fear, nothing in a death grip in my hands, so I figured that I had appeared peaceful while I had died in my dreams. I looked around and realized I was not in the bathroom I had passed out in....

Woah... major grossout moment there! I saw that I was in a bedroom on the huge queen bed in the center of it. On the subject of wrong grossouts there was a person in the bed next to me.

One.

Word.

EWWWWWWW!!!!

My stomach lurched and I gagged. It was Lucas. How dare he?! I swear I had been pretty angry at him before, but no...Maybe that was all part of the dream(Ahhh....the sweet sound of sarcasm). I flicked his forehead and punched him in the gut, proceeding to get out of the bed and make my way out of the room. Suddenly I couldn't move. My thoughts were scattered and slow. When I could think and move again Lucas was gripping my shoulder so hard I had to fight not to cry out from the pain.

"We start your training today" he said with a fake cheerful voice. "Now move!" his voice was suddenly harsh and angry. I stole a single glance at him and saw anger, pain, and hurt swirling in his golden eyes. He looked down and pushed me forward. He mumbled something I couldn't recognize as english. I didn't push it though, he was obviously upset and angry about something, and letting it out on me. I know, unfair, but after living with two parents who did that your whole life you feel sort of a sympathy towards people like that. Then a memory shot through my mind.

All children Fae and their human caretakers are supposed to capture any rebel Fae and fight the battle here. Caretakers... Mom and Daddy weren't my real parents.

"Earth to Fallon" Lucas said, waving his hand in fornt of my face. I jumped back and blinked rapidly to come back. "You-"

"Zoned out, I know." I interrupted distractedly, my voice low so Lucas couldn't hear the tears in it. He rolled his eyes and pulled me down a flight of stairs. I followed along reluctantly.

He pulled me out a doorway I didn't recognize and up some cement stairs. It opened up to this huge field with a blur of a forest in the distance. I focused my hearing on the forest and heard crickets. Immediately I saw a vision of the singing insects on blades of grass, blown up so that it looked like one of those nature show pics. It went away as quickly as it came and I came back into my own body.

"Are you okay?" Lucas asked, concern filling his eyes now. I nodded and then shook my head trying to get rid of the throbbing headache I had. Lucas put his hand on my shoulder. I flinched away from the warmth. The concern was joined by more hurt. Then I heard distant voices, but I wasn't using my unusual senses for them. Casey was leading Miranda, Honey, Dawn, and Eli in a march. Lucas shifted his attention from me to them and facepalmed, dragging his hand down his face.

"I really don't want to do this!" He murmured to the sky. "Uh, you guys?" he asked uncertainly. Casey looked to him with a smile.

"Um, I have something to tell you..." Casey's smile disappeared. "Well, as the representative's child, you know that I go to the Fae meetings... and, um, I haven't told you everything..." I mentally facepalmed. Casey stalked up to Lucas. Man, these dudes had expressive eyes, Casey's had confusion swirling in them, and suspicion. Lucas looked down.

"We're all required to train above our level of amature apprentices, because so many Fae are dying and we might need to join the actual forces. And remember what I said...before" he mouthed that last word. "Well, yeah, you all are assigned to protect one member of this group. But I'm not assigned to Fallon officially, I'm just a fill in for her real protector. Eli, yes, you are assigned to Dawn and also Honey. Originally Dawn's older sister was assigned to her but she died so Eli now has to protect the two of you. Casey, you're assigned to Miranda. I think it's best for us to enroll in Fae Academy and learn as much as we can..." Casey shook his head and pressed the inside corners of his eyes with his pointer finger and his thumb.
