Lucas's eyes widened and so did mine. If we both thought-wait, the person I called mom was my fake mom. I sighed in relief.
"Realized that Fallon doesn't know her mom yet?" She asked. Lucas still stared in shock.
"What-what are you..." He seemed so confused.
"What am I...doing here?" The woman offered. "Getting you so you're not frozen in time too, and possibly finishing your little crush off. No one's good enough for you. Especially not that half-Fae. Alex's arms around me tightened.
"How dare you bring that up?!" He growled. Devon stood in front of us protectively, and Zac reloaded his gun.
"You're the one who.." Lucas couldn't even form a correct question. I reached out to touch his arm, his eyes were hard. "You-you-You're evil! I hate you!" He screamed. Casey had him by the elbows, keeping the boy from charging at his dangerous mother, blind with rage.
"You don't mean that do you sweetheart? I only want what's best for you. That city...that city would've helped! The plants, everything. Freezing time is the only way to find that damn city! And that girl is not good enough for you! She deserves to die for being so harsh and cruel!" The woman took a step towards her son, her eyes blazing. "You ungrateful son! Why don't you appreciate all I've done for you?!" Lucas settled into a disturbing calm.
"Because you're not the woman who gave birth to me. My mother is kind and caring and could never kill anyone. Yet you say you are her, and also claim to be leader of the rebellion. It's not true." He growled. A beam of light shot into the air. The woman smirked.
"I really am your mother. And now it's too late. The general of the second dimension rebellious troop has already activated the beacon powering the time-freezing spells in all the dimensions. Soon you all will be frozen. Too bad." She tipped her head to the side and gave a fake sincere smile. I glared at her and stood by Lucas.
"You want me to go to the beacon?" I murmured in his ear under my breath. He gave me a single nod.
"What were you saying?! Lucas! What was she saying?! Answer your mother now!" I heard Lucas give a reply, but I was too far to hear the words. I stumbled and almost fell a bunch of times, but managed to keep the beacon of light in sight, and my face from the ground
"Hey, we've got your back." Honey said, trailing Eli, Claire, and Danny.
"Danny?!?!" I exclaimed. She nodded once, her eyes set in front of her. She was determined. I couldn't take that from her.
"Hannah is back there with the others. Jez and Zac are guarding her but she's still gonna fight." Eli informed as we ran on. My feet refused to work fast enough, so I was basically just falling forwards. Claire caught my arm and I felt a new energy fill into my legs. I smiled my thanks before speeding up. Everyone seemed happy to pick up the pace.
"Run!" Devon screamed. I glanced over my shoulder and saw he was dragging Hannah, who had a slash on her leg, along faster than her young legs could carry her. The woman claiming to be her and Lucas's mother was powerwalking after them. Lucas brought up the rear, ushering his sister on.
"Hannah come on!" I called. "You can do it, just tell yourself you don't feel the pain!" She looked at me, and her eyes were wild and full of tears and fear. Then they hardened and she nodded, pumping her legs harder, spreading her strides farther. Danny slowed down to keep pace with her friend. Devon let go of Hannah's hand to run alongside me.
"Miranda?" I asked.
"Fightin off a tranq dart. Jez is guarding her. It's amazing, that girl can control the natural substances in the tranqulizer." He said. I nodded.
